Anyone running a blinky 17.5 truck tried the Avid triad slipper yet? I was thinking about getting it, but wondering if it is overkill for 17.5. My other option is to replace my current pads with garodiscs. Anyone with experience that can compare the two, your opinion would be appreciated.

I checked the dedicated triad thread, but it is pretty much filled with people reporting that they have ordered it and can't wait to try it. I understand people get excited . . . just wish they would wait and post results instead of keeping the forum updated on their anticipated parcels.

it is supposed to give you more snap and consistent slipping. 90% of the drivers order it , will probably just imagine the results. like the vts, you get more surface area to slip, and thus should glaze the pads less and make it more consistent. The garo disks dont glaze or fade, so I would imagine you get the same results. but they are made from different materials so the sensitivity of the garo vs vts vs triad would probably be different.

Well, of course, I know it is supposed to give more consistent slipping. Any company trying to get you to ditch one slipper for another will probably try to make this claim. I am trying to find out if anyone has tried it with 17.5, and I am hoping they'll share their impressions. Even better if they can compare to garodiscs.

Consistency comes from no glaze or change over time, as well as not too much change on heating (friction), and I think this depends on material more than total surface area. As far as material, I assume garodiscs are made from garolite, and it sounds from the triad instructions that Avid uses a ptfe (or teflon) disc. My gut says garolite would be better if my other assumptions are correct. Again, these are just my guesses. I have never touched either type of slipper with my own hands. So, hoping I can stop assuming, stop guessing, and get some feedback.

Edit: I think I sound too "militant" above, my bad. Yes, the more surface area should be good as it will likely help reduce heat buildup, and also reduce the workload on a unit surface area. It looks like the triad is smaller diameter as compared to VTS, so maybe discrepancy in surface area is not as much as it first appears. Anyway, like I said, curious for some 17.5 blinky set-up feedback.

I was doing tires to adjust for too much steering. I found a couple of setup changes that helped me calm down the twityness.
I first moved the front shock to the middle hole on top and the outside hole on a-arm.
Second I added more rear toe. Now this suits my style. But it mellowed out the steering and gave me good forward bite. This is for glitch which is an outdoor clay.

I would think maybe i would start with a stiffer compound in the front...i dont know too much about the AKA stuff, i would ask Casey P...he has alot of experience with AKA.

I just picked up my sc10 for my kid. It has 1.5deg rear hubs . Lol. Never seen that much before

Are front castor blocks labelled? Is 30 deg standard for factory team/RS models?

I think the white ones were supposed to last longer but they never did, thats why they went back to the yellow ones.

Default kids first win with sc10

Matt, got he sc10 working. The kid took it to CV and finished the last race of the series with her first win. And i must say, for a 7 year old with 3 months of racing experience, not too bad. Here is the video is you care to see. she is the truck with the hello kitty on the hood, lol.
