What would be a good gearing set up with a 8.5t? Going to be a kind loose dirt track with a lot of tight turns and a few big jumps. I'm at 87/21 right now. Running a LRP sxx tc esc and a Novac 8.5t ballistic motor currently with +4 boost and everything else stock.

you dont really want to go past 150. try going down 1 tooth and maybe a 1 more punch. also try going up one tooth, make sure you check temps often and find a setting that works for you. does lrp have boost or just punch settings?

I'm running 17.5 anf I come off after 8 min main at like 170 deg and my truck moves great down the straight and good bottom end to make jumps after cutting turns tight. I've ran motors this hot for a long time with no problems and I even know a fast guy who wins a lot at my local track who runs almost if not over 200 deg after the main and he pulls everybody on the straight and carry corner speed well to make the jumps well, nobody else would even try to gear as high as he do but you know what he wins hahahahaha

basic question for you guys: what's the advantage on certain tracks on running a double dee tire up front and bar codes in the back?
My guess is that it depends on your driving style on loose to medium bite tracks. If you like to throw the back end around in a sharp turn, then this might work better?
Or does it also help, somewhat, if you have a little on-power push in turns, so it improves with on-power steering? It probably doesn't help with on-power push, but wanted to throw it out there for you guys to comment on.
thanks,

well normally mismatched tires are to correct something. The sc10 has a ton of steering. so I would assume that the double d's have less bite on that track and the bar codes would bite more. thus calming down the steering. on this truck that is the only reason I would do it.
