the weight i added to the truck helped out tremendously.. i also geared up 1 tooth on the pinion. weight my truck without the battery with tires on it came out to be 21.34.. the mugen sc weight about 3-4 ounces more.. overall the truck drove well.. more consistent and planted with the weight.. i feel like a little more wont hurt either..

Plan on putting another100-150 into.the Losi for chassis, shocktowers estc.
New to dirt, you come from onroad? If so, your going to need those onroad tuning skills for this truck.

One isn't better than the other IMO, they both get the job done differently.
Check out the losi SCTE also. It's not perfect, neither is the associated but it's easier to get setup and going fast out of the box than the associated.

The associated drives more like a sedan on dirt than the losi so maybe that's a good thing for you.
The losi drives more like a 1/8 buggy, stable but with less turn in than the associated.

Generally the losi is better suited to outdoor tracks and the associated is better suited to indoor tracks. Where will you be racing?

Like Ryan said, if you decide AE, get the team factory team kit for sure.
Yeah, the SCTE is not perfect, but neither is the AE... or any other R/C kit.
Sure after you thrash the SCTE you will have to replace the rear tower with a carbon piece and after you have lawn darted 50 times you need a new chassis. But...

I've spent a couple dollars on my AE, haven't all of us?

Like Ross said, check all of your options and maybe the AE is what you are looking for in handling or maybe the SCTE fits your style better. Go to the track ask around, big investment to not do a little unbiased research.
