SC10 4x4 Thread
Back end always wants to break loose off power. On-power, it used to just keep oversteering. Since going to the overdrive pulley, I have been able to correct the off-power oversteer with a bit of throttle. Now it pushes through corners nicely as long as I have SOME throttle on.
From what everyone is saying, I really need to invest in the centre diff. (And yes, Centre is spelled RE in the queen's english.)

Nope, I haven't. Didn't think that would be a problem given that with zero forward trim, I can coast for more than 100 feet from full throttle. There is less drag in this car than there is in a 3-diff car.
on our track ?
the truck would not steer enough & step out on the sharp turns. Also when ever accelerating for the jump ? Wheel spin will cut the jump short and truck will case bad instead...
blame it all on the rear spring you installed...(Too stiff)
Misinformation.
Yes, a 540 will have less torque than a 550....but he didn't ask about torque.
a 4.5T 540 will be faster than a 4.5T 550 running the same gearing and same voltage (assuming that you are not overgeared to the point of overloading the motor)
From novak's own chart....
The 4.5T 540 is a 9000kv motor.
The 4.5T 550 is a 5000kv motor and the 4.5T 550 with the High Torque rotor is 3850kv.
The 540 is nearly 2x faster than the 550 when using the same batteries, same gearing.
Where the caveat comes in, is that you generally have to gear a 540 much lower than a comparable 550 so that it doesn't overheat...even with fans...because it is not suited for heavy 4x4 trucks. The SC104x4 is twice as heavy as the touring cars and 1/10th scale buggies that 4.5T 540s are typically intended for....

You win WC.
I'm copying Kodys setup with some minor changes because I don't have the spacer/oil.
I've got nothing to lose.
I'm only going 5mm on the rear ballstud cause that's all I have, 30K instead of 20K up front, a no VTS although I hope to pick one up this weekend.

the fast guy at my track runs an AE 4x4 and used grid irons soft on all 4 wheels. He does not use a locker or C diff or 2 stage pistons and uses a stick pack. He is like WC and AE stock. So it might just be like people say. in the hands of a good driver the truck is fine, but in my mortal hands, it needs a lot of work. heck the fast guy does not even use lead in his truck or exo chassis.
cain the truck will roll when it is wet on race day but al i do is take the outside line in those corners or slow down a little the tires have ae foam in them and i glued the foam with uerathain 3m i dont no how much that matters on the same track holeshots are good on my b4 if you stay on the line
blue the center diff dos help but not ass much as blue f springs in the rear and if you run 550 us yellow f and if that dont fix it go to higher w oil in front and rear the oil will calm the truck down most of the problems all the guys on here have i have had at one point i cant say my setup is a fix all but it works vary well for me but the mip pistons are key it was fast befor but now it is consistant and more stable

These two vids both show the SC104x4 with a Novak 4.5T 550. If your truck is WAY slower than these, you either have it geared wrong, have too much binding in your drivetrain, or have fried your motor or ESC.
