What are your esc and motor temp cut off points set at? you might just be touching the cut off.

I have not ran boosted profiles really at all and need help. I am planning on running my 4wd buggy with a 9.5 boosted. I want to get some top end out of it to keep up with the 6.5 guys. Can anyone pm me profiles to test in practice? thanks

I've had problems similar to hyperSC82. Mine is showing me the motor overtemp LED indicator but the motor doesn't feel that hot. I didn't have a chance to check the temp last time but the cut off was set at 170. Should I go higher with that? What is everyone else running for that?

Yes, the motor temp cut off reads the temp off of the rotor inside the motor. Probably should be up higher like 220. Still monitor the temp outside on the can, but, member the difference can be 50-60 degrees from inside to outside.

Stu- if you don't have a ProGauge try profile 3, but monitor temps and gearing. If you do, you can adjust rpm start and end points. VLink can help you get ideas on where to start with that. Everyone likes to feel boost a little different.

It happens with all my batteries.
I have had the same problems, and I have never really figured out the problem, but it seems to go away when the speedo is mounted in a place where it cannot touch anything (it was doing it to me this weekend until I remounted it away from the reciever that it was touching, and it didnt do it again.)

I also have another problem. I am running a desc410r with the vtx10r with a tekin pro 4 4000. Mid and top range are acceptable, a little slower than I would like, but the bottom end is non existant. I cant even spin the tires when I punch it on gravel. I have tried all kinds of different settings in the pro gauge including raising the punch ( just made it hotter) and messing around with timing (couldnt tell any difference at all) It is almost like the timing is way to advanced, but I have it set at 0. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

my vst 4.5 550 is stupid fast i have to turn it way down. my punch is set to 50% and its still a little to fast just the way i like it.

our speed controls are designed for 2 pole motors. if your trying to use a 4 pole motor from another mfg, you need to check with them to see what they require for speed control.

Viper should have a 1/8th-4wd SC esc out soon that should run that motor fine.

What do you mean by "what they require for speed control"? I also have tried a 2 pole tekin 4.5 550 motor and the same thing: No bottom end, and lack luster mid range with a top end I never even get to. I would try one of your motors, but I am low on funds and trying to make what I have work.

BTW it is not a gearing issue because I have even tried the smallest pinion I can find (9 tooth) and still seems like it is way over geared or timing way to advanced.

t-man - Tekin states they recommend using their 1/8 size speed control for their 4 pole mole. Our speed controls are only designed for 2 pole motors.

I can't speak for the Tekin motor (I have never run one), but we can try and adjust some settings in the esc to compensate. PM me your profile or set up and let's see what you have.

Everyone, I leave for the SC Nats in a few hours. Hopefully I will have a decent mobile signal there and can post some updates from the track. But I just wanted to say if any replies are delayed over the weekend, its because I am at the race.

I will try and post updates and pictures here at our forum at www.viper-rc.com
