Depends on the track but 8.0 FDR should put you in the ballpark. Mod settings should be a good start, learn what the settings do and tune from there

Vitomon - as CraigM stated, gearing 8,0 is correct as start, but as always it depends on the track, you race on. We also now use the V3 with 4,5 T Thunderpower motor. On a big outdoor tarmac track we started with 8,3 but ended up with 7,71 - and using timing and boost. We read out the rpm to be about 67000 rpms = about 105 km/h.

Next practice we will try out the Thundepower 4,0 T. We will then start gearing about 8,3 and lowering the timing and boost.

I run 10 boost, 18 turbo. 15 and 15 is also a very common combo

Thank you Cobra for posting the above info,

what suggestions or tweaks would you make to this setup for running a 7.5 Reedy ?

Our track is 40m x 25m quite flowing

I have not run the newer v3 esc so I can not comment on the smoothness. It does however seem like it has way more programable features than any other ESC right now. This can be good and bad as it raises the level of complexity to set it up. I have also run the older Orca MKII ESC and it is the smoothest ESC that I have ever run. Better than the LRP, and way way better than Tekin. The new VX is almost identical in set up to the older MKII so it is really easy to set up. It is not as complex as the V3 HW so that makes it a little better choice in my opinion. Both offer track side adjustment with a program box.
I would ask around your local track and actually drive one to make the choice. The only limit for me at the moment is there is not a good importer in the US for ORCA, where as HW has CRC and they are all about helping you out in the US.
