Sad this is the very best class to race next to buggy.

For tracks where 1/8 is ran, these vehicles handle the best of the 1/10 2wd stuff. I am liking 2wd ST enough myself that the SCT 2wd is going out the door, and I am really a buggy fan at heart.

I apologize if this has been asked a gazillion times before, but will the Losi rims fit with the B4 hexes installed?

No, the offset is way wrong. I havent heard if RT5 rims will fit but I doubt it. If you want to run the same wheels front and rear you can use the SC hex steering block and axle but without the hex and use rear wheels all around.

Anyone tried a shorty lipo that can comment on how they liked it or not? I searched and saw very few posts on it. Using one in my B4.1 and like it. Havent had a chance to try it in the T4.1 yet though.

Couldn't have said it better myself. While 4x4 SC is on the rise in my area, 2wd SC is on the decline. People are moving over to stadium truck and buggy in force.

I am excited to see how things go with the class. I like SCT in 4x4 though with my SC10 x4, but heck, I think it could be cool to see a buggy version of the SC104x4 now that things are getting sorted out with its handling thanks to a lot of aftermarket places and the stuff AE has come out with recently.

Back on topic, I have a question concerning a diff rebuild. I recently did this on an SC10FT but its essentially the same part of the T4.1 so I figure I would just ask here, I rebuilt it using ceramic thrust balls and standard carbide diff balls based on some recommendations, but didn't have fresh rings with me. I just did my normal "flip" and go of the rings to the side that looks good and went ahead with my normal build it it is notchy. I am thinking one of the sides may have actually been used already. So my questions are these:

- What methods do people take to refresh the diff rings?
- What about the thrust rings, anything can be done there?
- If going all new, can you just order some thrust rings without the thrust bolt? If so, whats the part number.

I also noticed that the diff ring number has changed, I am assuming the older rings are no good anymore?

I love the movement to truck and buggy lately, it's a natural progression. As a new guy gets his 2w sct hooked up... well, he wants a more high performance platform. 2wd truck is the best for guys like me who just don't have the technique or timing 2wd buggy requires anymore.

To refresh diff rings, sand them on an outdrive against some 400 then 600 grit sandpaper on a piece of glass or something flat. sand in a figure 8 motion.

Thrust rings, just replace. it's like a buck for the washers and bolt, buy a bunch and replace every 2 or 3 rebuilds.

Not sure on the part number, I have a FT sc10 converted into a T4.1... progression back to my roots

Also, check the bearings inside the diff, you'd be surprised how often those can wear out and add to a diffs' crunchiness even after the rings/balls/thrust parts have been replaced.

cool thanks for the info guys. I'll probably give it a teardown and retry your suggestions again.

By the way, where are you finding the thrust washer and bolt for like $1? Everywhere I look its more like $3 .

Will this 12mm hex mod for the front axles work on the t4.1? It works on the sc10 and b4.1 so I figured it would work for t4.1 as well.
I know I still need to get the sc10 steering knuckles, axles.

Installing them will not be an issue, however there are no wheels (that I know of) that will work with them

I think these will work, they have the 14mm hex, but if I mount the traxxas 12mm hexes, I might have to use a washer before I spin on the wheel nut depending on the size of the center hole on the wheel. These wheels will work on the TEN-T, Stampede 4x4, etc.

I'm not sure about the off-set but the Ten-T wheels are 14mm hex

My brother took an old B4 diff which had its original rings and put it into a B4.1 when he went to rebuild. Same ring.
