SC10 4x4 Thread
Craig ,
Not sure how long it takes to warp um , those new arms I just installed will let me learn how long soon .
But outdoors or in, they are warping and twisting...
We also talked about how much Ae has invested in the Sc10 4x4 & the conclusion was nothing is going to change for a while as they have to get a run on the current parts and also concentrating on the new 1/10th bug ..
It would take new molds if Ae decides to switch the plastic , you might as well design a new part or whole new truck for that matter if switching plastic is the only solution if you ask me ...

1. Find a silver sharpie.
2. Mark one side of your arms before you install new ones.
3. Remove them, clean the hinge pins, and re-install them on the other side of the truck once a race day.

AE made an updated rear shock tower with the void around the body mount removed. IMO they could make a similar change to the a arms and get rid of the void near the sway bar links and that would do a lot. This is just speculation on my part (my wife is the one with the engineering degree), and I don't have access to FEA. I contemplated filling a set with epoxy.

I have had the arms warp on my RTR on a few occations but found that it was not consistant. One side would be fine, the other badly warped, so I have kept an eye on it for the last little while. I found that crashes where the wheel bore the brunt of the impact would cause the arm to twist backwards about the two aforementioned points. In one case, I was having a good run during a qualifier, then in the next, I was involved (or did it to myself) in a crash where the left wheel was hit hard. The truck would not steer correctly for the rest of the qualifier and I was a bit beside myself about the performance until I picked it up and looked at the arm. What was fine the heat before was now warped so bad that it caused the steering to go haywire.
I have had the current set on for the better part of two races and a number of battery packs through it in the meantime. So far, the set seems to be fine, with no warping at all. I am going to the track later today to wring out my FT and to get some tire inserts for a set of dirt tires for the RTR. Take care.
