SC10 4x4 Thread
I have run all three pro4's in my truck and the 5200kv is too much for a r10pro so we went with a tekin rx8 and it handles it just fine. Only drawback is a 5100 saddle pack gets gobbled up in about 10 minutes plus tires and the competion!!!!! lol
the RX8 has a better built in bec (5 volts) and has great tune ability plus it can handle the high draw from the Pro 4's better.
You can download the pro driver setups too which is cool.
I've owned both.
the MMP is ok as long as you dont run Savox servos. It's a good starter but the Tekin is the next step up and what the pro drivers use.
I was surprised how much more power the Tekin RS can make over the MMP. same settings (17.5).
There's a reason why most of the fast guys use Tekin products.

So just got my ft kit, Was going to go through the setups on associated's website and pick one as close as possible to my track conditions for a starting point when I realized a lot of them are a bit older setups. Question being with this being the factory team kit are there any major differences between the shocks or chassis that I would make the setups"undesirable"
should also note that the truck will be ran on a high bite indoor track with a mixture of tight and open sections and largish doubles and tables.

I would PM Cameron Kellogg here on what his setup is, he runs indoor high bite tracks and can probably give you the best advice for setups.
What tires do yall run these days? Been running green barcodes on clay with good results, still need a good hard pack with dust tire. Gonna try the aka rebars super soft for that. I think the longer bars will help act like a mini sand paddle tire. Barcodes work well after a fresh blowing/sweeping but once i get out of the groove it's like ice. Tried PL snipers but they wren't much better.
I'm also having ballooning issues, tried strapping the tires, but that took all give out of the tire and make it loose grip every where but full throttle. I think the v2 diff will help with most of that but may try a harder compound next time.

Indoors: Suburb m4
Outdoors Loamy: Blockade m3
Outdoors Dusty: Caliber m3
Outdoors blownout: Gladiator m3
This is all I play with nowadays. I know there is a better tire depending, but I just try my blockades first, and go from there.

I run the RX8 with a Novak Ballistic 4.5t and a Savox 1258. The only time my fan turns on is when I first power up the ESC. That baby is one cool running ESC for this truck. I had a MMP before with the same motor and servo. I had brown out issues even with a Cap installed. I decided to go the RX8 route and found one used on here for $145. Most used ones are in the $160 to $180 range. For what I paid, it would have been the same price as a MMP and an external Castle BEC, which is a must with the savox servos.

As far as tires go, I tried running a set of ballooned bar codes and the truck just did feel right. Then tried a freshly broken in set and the truck was completely different and handled much better.
Anyone try using gorilla tape or duct tape on the inside of the the tire? Will this help the tires from ballooning?

How do the burb's hold up to ballooning? seems like proline has stiffer sidewalls than JC
