I just finished with my FT build this morning. I installed the electronics in it and took it out for a test run on the driveway. After about 30-60 secs, i noticed a slight hesitation and glitch, but it kept going. I wasn't doing anything too hard with it, then all of a sudden it stopped and smoke came billowing out from under the body. CRAP! I thought that I just ruined my new FT truck.
I quickly see that the ESC is toast, melted, and close to being on fire. I quickly pull the wires out of my saddles. Now I am trying to understand what could have occurred.
At any rate, has anyone ever had such a problem? What could have caused my ESC to melt/burn/fry??? I am at a loss here.

Looks like i'm the latest victim of the shattered servo saver saga. It was kind of my own fault I guess for locking it down. lucky the dude with the parts wagon had a 4x4 kit and was willing to break out the saver for me. Went ahead and ordered the STRC rack and new FT ackbar.
How does the FT ackbar compare to the rcshox? I know the rcshox is much more durable and probably a little more direct feeling since it's CF vs. plastic, but how do the angles compare?

I dont think the tenshock is roar approved. But most local small tracks dont follow roar rules to the T.
My FT all finished up.. THanks to Goatboy for modding the battery tray while I was attending to more important matters
As y'all can see.. Dremel off the corner on the battery tray and the RX8 fits like a glove!

And after a final bit of wiring adjustment

The current limiter limits the current throughout the entire rpm range, but since current drops off as the rpm increases it won't limit the top speed unless you set it really low. Setting the EPA on a radio to 80% is not the same as setting the current limiter to 80. Cutting back on the EPA limits the maximum voltage allowed to go to the motor, effectively lowering the max current draw allowed while reducing the top speed.
