I quickly see that the ESC is toast, melted, and close to being on fire. I quickly pull the wires out of my saddles. Now I am trying to understand what could have occurred.

At any rate, has anyone ever had such a problem? What could have caused my ESC to melt/burn/fry??? I am at a loss here.
Like others are saying it can just happen. This is a shot of a Castle Sidewinder SCT that had been running fine for a long time. One day for no particular reason it did this after about 5 feet. I have been running a Castle MMP with my 4600 Pro 4 and it has been great. Well other than the near useless internal BEC. That was solved by a 6700microfarad cap though.

Looks like i'm the latest victim of the shattered servo saver saga. It was kind of my own fault I guess for locking it down. lucky the dude with the parts wagon had a 4x4 kit and was willing to break out the saver for me. Went ahead and ordered the STRC rack and new FT ackbar.

How does the FT ackbar compare to the rcshox? I know the rcshox is much more durable and probably a little more direct feeling since it's CF vs. plastic, but how do the angles compare?

Tekins explanation is a little vague.

Haven't mess with it yet, so just wondering.
that means im only using 85% full throttle. Would be the same if I had my RX8's hotwire settings were set at 100% current limiter and my controller throttle EPA set at fwd 85% instead of 100%. Need to take the laptop to the track and see what higher numbers would do. Truck wicked fast the way it is.

I dont think the tenshock is roar approved. But most local small tracks dont follow roar rules to the T.

My FT all finished up.. THanks to Goatboy for modding the battery tray while I was attending to more important matters

As y'all can see.. Dremel off the corner on the battery tray and the RX8 fits like a glove!

And after a final bit of wiring adjustment

The current limiter limits the current throughout the entire rpm range, but since current drops off as the rpm increases it won't limit the top speed unless you set it really low. Setting the EPA on a radio to 80% is not the same as setting the current limiter to 80. Cutting back on the EPA limits the maximum voltage allowed to go to the motor, effectively lowering the max current draw allowed while reducing the top speed.

The FT bar copied the width dimensions that i came up with, only has two adjustments and is not ball bearing, not sure about the fore and aft dimensions but since there is only two seems like you would be taking a step backwards by going with it. IMO

Maybe its just the pix but has anyone noticed a different chassis material? it looks more "marbled" than the normal stuff.
