Bringing this one back up. I'm fairly new in the RC world, but have been drag racing all of my life. This method seems to make more sense than the "idle" method, to me anyway. Has anyone tried this on something like the Alpha .21 engines that have a lot of pinch from the factory?

I wonder if I have to use 16pct nitro or 25pct nitro during break in process. Is 16pct nitro also means more concentration of oil ( than 25pct nitro ) ?

Use the fuel you will be racing with. The process eliminates any issues with too much or not enough oil/nitro etc. I do all my engines this way and have never had issues with break in or longevity.

More oil would also extend the process and when you start to lean the engine out for speed it will still be too tight. That can cause rod and liner issues.

After being out of thehobby for about 3 years I decided to hop back in for a little while. I now remember one of the things I hated about running nitro: break in. That said, I did use this method on my .12 Ninja engines and they flew. So, we'll see how it works on this NRS12 and my Black Plus 12 (once I rebuild that one, anyway)

no the percentage of oil and other ingredients is measured as a percentage so it is always the same.

if 16% nitro has 10% oil and 25% nitro has 10% oil they both have the same amount of oil per litre

25% nitro with 10% oil would have less methanol compared to the 16% nitro with 10% oil.

I'm going to try this method with my next engine.
