I did the the RC8 to SCT conversion for both the RC8 and the Mugen MBX6. The RC8 is a good 200-250 grams heavier. I decided to not bother with the RC8 to go down that road. I did with the Mugen. I did buy the SNR chassis and it saves a good 100 grams. Together with the CF towers and some Titanium and aluminium hopup parts it is a good 200 grams lighter then before. If you would do that with the RC8 you would still be at the starting weight of the Mugen. That said, there is a bit more to gain with the RC8, there is quite a bit heavy parts on the RC8 where the Mugen is already a bit more racy out of the box.

I got my first RC8Be and assembled it yesterday. Everything went smooth with the exception I mixed up the front and rear diff which has 3k and 5k fluid. Instead of f=5000 c=7000 and r3000, I installed f=3000 c=7000 and r=5000. I'm just a basher with occasional track use. You think its a big deal or not really.
I haven't driven it yet cause I'm still waiting for my Tekin 2050 and Rx8. Thanks.

Broke one of the steering tie rod ends yesterday is there anything stronger than the stock ends?

well i was running 5-5-2 and it was a little too lose feeling for me. I changed to 5-5-5 and I felt it made a big difference in handling (not as loose in the rear). I like it better. So i would imagine that 3-5-7 would be very different, tuning the diffs can really change the way a car handles. I would guess you will have decreased steering with the setup. IMO i would change back to 5-7-3 or 5-7-5 would be great for bashing.

So, the kit comes with Pro Line Holeshot green compound with blue foams. Before I glue them up, is the blue foam ok or should I go with a softer foam? I will be mainly bashing on grass, or on a very loose dirt track.

there great for bashing, just glue em up! I even used em at my home track - hardpack indoor clay, and the tires were decent. they actually got alot better after they were worn down like slicks.

Is the RC8be still a viable racer? I'm thinking about getting one to club race..it's new and the price is half of what the 8.2 is..

Yes. I run mine a couple times a week and I don't think I give much up to a lot of racers. It IS a marked improvement over it's predecessor!

Very much so. I place with mine almost every time. Last two club races I pulled 1st. If the car fumbles it's driver error. I do have upgraded towers, 8.2 arms & sway bars, but that's it. No lightened out drives, no plus 3mm chassis, etc. 1/2 price sounds like a extra money to use for entry fees, parts, extra battery, or maybe a steak dinner w/ the lady, lol...

I'm looking to get a regular cab body for my converted RC8Be and worried about how the 4S hard case battery will fit under the body.....Does anyone have any suggestions on what fits the RC8Be the best?
