Go-Tech Engines Thread
Sounds like a plan to me. I'll dig out my stuff and get a fresh look at it first. I gotta admit though, after seeing the prices on Amain I'm tempted to just grab up a new one.
sold off my werks engines and picked up a couple used gxII ho's.
and couldnt pass up the amain prices.so i picked up another.thanks for the heads up on that deal.
so it looks like im all in on the go engines.
i did replace the rods on both the used motors, since the previous owner stated he had a gallon thru each.
after doing some reading on here i also am using the od 97t plug.much better price than the o.s. p3 plugs.
other than following the tune guide that is listed on the thread.
is there anything else i need to check out on the used engines.
any help would be great...
oh and i just picked up a competition heat engine warmer from nitro north.
best price i found anywhere.

Damn those A-main prices.. but US shipping only.. time to get on my knees to the mother in law and beg the use of her address then

A GXII at those prices isn't to be missed..that's not much more than a PRS set normally for the entire engine.

Just use any reputable run in method. We prefer the heat cycle method keeping the motor as close to 200 - 230 F as you can on every tank by foiling the head etc.
This will result in a relatively fast and smooth run-in and a long lasting motor as well. If you have a spare .2mm head shim, pop this in to relieve the compression for the first 12 - 15 tanks then remove it. Makes it easier on the motor and you
.I wouldn't recommend breaking the motor in on 30%. Get a couple of litres of 25% for the first 15 or so tanks. Once things start to loosen up a little and you remove the .2mm shim, then switch up to 30%.
Read the run-in section on our website if you want more info on the method we use. It's on the Tech Tips page at http://www.go-racing.co.nz
I would give them both a good check to see everything is done up tight and the bearings are good, something we do to the head is fit a 7-8mm strip of fuel tubing between each fin on each side of the motor, helps with vibration and fins comming away in the middle area, works on the GX1s as well.
thanx for info on fuel tubing.
