I really need this question answered as I'm about to pull the trigger and buy this buggy in the next day or two. Are the stock bodies thick and durable or should I order a 3rd party body? I'm having some sent to my pro painter, Paint Monster, so I need to send him the good stuff. I know my Losi SCTE stock body was garbage.......... where it resides now.
Also I have some Racers Edge 6000mah and some Nanotech 53000 mah, what mah is better suited for this car? Are 6000's overkill because of the extra weight? I need to order up some more batteries as well.
I think they are mixing nitro and e buggies for 10 minute mains.
More questions coming later, I still have 30 more pages to read to catch up on this tread
I met a racer at The Nitro Challenge that told me he was a C main racer until he recently switched to this Cobra E and jumped up to an A main racer, even for Nitro Challenge. That says a lot for this buggy

So last night I got to run a Mugen Eco on the Fear Farm Nitro Challenge track. This was my first time running and 8th scale RC and I LOVED IT.
All I can say is WOW...a new higher level of fun then 10th scale. I can't believe how much easier to drive the 8th buggies are then 10th. And so much more durable. This car was dialed and handled the track very well.
But I still wanted the Serpent 811e so I called Absolute Hobbyz today and ordered one with some spare parts mentioned in this thread. Absolute saved me about $100 over all. The problem I ran into was everyone is sold out of the Tekin RX8 1900kv combo but did manage to find the last one on ebay.
I've already started thinking about the 811T conversion for electric, anyone else here doing that?
I found this kit and thread on that subject, so I might do that in a few weeks.

So I'm in the Serpent 811e club now
Cheers!

Welcome to the snake pit. Pretty odd bit cool to see someone buy a serpent as their first 8th scale. I could be wrong or hoping, but heck out serpents site and or the new catalog. I think they are making a electric specific truggy

I like it.
So when I was reading earlier in this thread, many ppl were trying to find an aluminum servo saver to work with this car. Did Serpent ever come out with one because there is one listed on Amain by serpent?

Anyone tried this?

ok guys, im finishing the assembly of my first serpent and second 1/8th buggy and im kinda upset. as a whole im very satisfied but one problem. look at the picture and tell me if this is normal! luckly i ordered an blue set of fronts along with the buggy kit. i also race touring and in that rc community, this is unheard of. btw - its 5mm difference and the short one leans.
