I've seen people break rods then put a new on in to just have the crank pin be bent or the crank crack because it was jammed originally. I wouldnt take the chance and just get a new engine. The P5 is pretty killer from Neal and since its nova its top quality.

Default P5 report

I raced at the CRCRC midwest champs this weekend and was able to try Neal's P5 in my buggy. I originally had it setup with an m2c clutch, 9901 pipe, 6.5 restrictor and 41021 header. The track was really slick and the engine to be honest was hard for me to handle. I finally decided to take it out before qualifying and go with my trusty BTT. After qualifying was over I talked to Neal and with the help of him and Trent they gave me some suggestions on what to do to dial out some of the power. Since we had a 5 minute A main practice I thought this was the perfect time to give it a go again. I opted for the same header but a 9886 pipe and steel flywheel with 4 carbon shoes and 7.5 restrictor. This made the power so much smoother but I still had enough to clear all the jumps and have some ponies down the straight. I was able to get 9th in the Amain with the P5. What is great about the engine is now I have something that can run on super high grip and let it rip and also an engine that will work when the track is slick! To top it off it will run with anything on the track at a reasonable price. Thanks guys!!

Learning how to tune your clutch is just as important as tuning your engine.

Not sure if tired but I just bought some M2C carbon like Alu shoes Franks says they wear pretty good believe he said they were good. Just a suggestion good to have in the clutch spare box. Also are you running the weights in the M2C. My plan for my P5 cre all weights M2C carbon shoes with 2 .95 two one step lower.

I have a prototype steel flywheel and while it works really well in my stock engines the modded P5 engine needs a different animal for slick track conditions. I didnt get to try more weights in the steel flywheel but I did try the carbon like shoes and lighter springs it just was not enough of a change for what I needed. What I'm trying to say here is the M2C clutch is great, I use it in my truggy and love it, even on this track when it was slick with my Clockwork bonito but the buggy and P5 was a whole different ball game. Next test will be more weights on the steel flywheel but I wont get to run again until it gets warmer out.

Hey Neal. Ive been running a 6mm venturi the whole time ive had my Clocked B5/2013. And now i have the 6mm in the Nova carb on it. Its insanely fast and ive been getting 9min 30sec till dry at Fear Farm in my buggy. Whats your 'go to' size venturi? Just looking to experiment.....

7.5 seems to let neals motors breath better and funny enough run time improves, well it has in my werks b5 pro, werks b6 pro, nova p5xlt & nova banito.

I tryed the smaller ones but found they choked the power that the modified motor produces, much easier to tune the clutch and have the power on tap if you need it.

It is the same also with stock engines. If you a to small restrictor you will have to use your throttle more to get the same power as before. You will also get used to a heavy throttle finger ,-) You will also get a narrow tuning window with a small restictor, so your engine will be moore difficult to tune. I find anything smaller than a 7mm will make things difficult and if weather changes or there are very humid outside, engies gets rerally bitchy to tune.

Default Quick Race Report

Thought I would give a little update from this weekends races.

We had our first Points race of the season this past weekend. There were 84 buggy entries between 3 classes; Expert,Intermediate and Sportsman. I ran with the Intermediate crowd. We had 3 rounds of 7 minute qualifiers with one main. After each qualifier I still had about 1/3 a tank left of fuel.

I TQ'd my class and took home the win in the main. I ran a Clocked Nova Plus 4 BTTS in my Kyosho and it was flawless all day. Grip levels really came up for the main and guys running stock engines had a hard time clearing a double to table-top to quad due to lack of grunt. Not a problem for the Clocked engines!

Really loving this engine. Even with a soft clutch set up and less than a gallon through the engine, I had all the performance I needed. I can't wait until this engine is fully broken in This has to be Neal and John's best dedicated buggy engine IMO.

great job bro. Its so awesome when your engine and gear are all perfectly perfect with no glitches throughout the day. TQ and the win is icing on the cake.

Ok I keep getting p/m's and youtube messages saying that its not possible for my needle settings to be out from flush on my clocked novarossi P5XLT so I thought it best to just shoot some video of the needle settings and then some footage of the power it is providing so here it is guys.

I finally burned some nitro! Lol. Put some fuel thru my C6 USA. That is one stout hoss. I really like the C6/B10 engines. Too bad there's not a reliable source for RB in North America. You did a great job on this engine Neal. It really likes the 9886/41021 combo. Also put a werks #6 plug in it. Almost time to order Bonito. I like engines!
