So, spent some time wrenching tonight on my buggy...took the tranny apart, gave it a good cleaning, clean and oiled the bearings. Added a tad of 50w shock oil to the gears and gave them a good spin. Now my gears are LOUD as hell, you can actually hear it whine down..

WTH...it was NOT like this, or anywhere close to that...

The mesh is good, pinon and spur are in very good shape. The gears inside and the ball diff are in good shape. Double checked how much i cranked down the tranny case screws, including the screws that hold the wing posts.

A tad of play in my outdrives, nothing really major, very very slight bend in my right CVD, but it doesnt sound likes its coming from there, its a very gear whiney type sound that i never had. My outdrives on my SC10 are worn a bit more and its whisper quiet, left side cvd is also slight bent on there and no noise...

Does the tranny case need some screw torque to hold the gears from vibrating or something?

Did you mark all your gears in the direction they were spinning prior to taking them out? If not you might have thrown the idler gear in backwards, that might be causing it.

If you marked all your gears and put them in the right way, I would check how tight your case is. Or if it is to loose, causing the gear mesh to be out of whack.

Also, the search function is helpful. Just a few days ago there was a 2 page discussion over it! Just FYI..

im not sure if all of the turnbuckles are all made the same length and if i make all of them evenly threaded my alignment would be out of whack andi have my servo horn at 90 degrees and im fustrated. im not sure if this is making my car push off pwr but it do push and im just wondering if this is the problem. please help me somebody asap

He means in terms of wear, flip the idler gear and it should be better. Assuming you didn't flip the diff gear as well when you redid the diff.

Default update to my front shock sitch..

so, after changing the oil out and bleeding both front shocks, i discovered i had put the front bottom spring perch's on the rear shocks, and the rear spring bottom perch's on the front. i could have sworn i read somewhere that it was ok to do this in an AE instruction guide!!! i switched them back to how they should be and voila, problem solved! full extension on the rebound.

thanks everyone for all of your input.

On a b4.1 they are the same and shouldn't matter, on a b4 the spring cups were/are different front to rear. Either way glad you got it fixed.

I run my gears dry too although I will try the Pledge trick one of these days. What I've never done is put the gears back in the way they came out. Never thought of that to be honest. That's also on my bucket list

+1 for lemon pledge, i've heard of using stealth lube also so if it gets on the diff balls there won't be any issues. Centrifical force tells me that won't be a problem though

If your running stock I wouldn't put any grease on the gear mesh... Just chiming in.

The measurements you take off the car are what's critical, not the measurement you take off the link. Getting the individual links set to the same length just gives you a uniform starting point for your adjustments. Get the links on the car and measure and adjust all the critical metrix (camber and toe-in). Your evil handling could very well be from one of these two parameters being wonky. After you get these things ironed out you will need to supply the rest of your setup for us to figure out why you have the off power push.
