If you were talking about a 1/10 car, I would understand the parts price issue. But if your rarely going to be braking anything, it's almost a non-factor. When it comes to 1/8 buggy the big money is spent not on the car, not on parts, but on tires. That has nothing to do with which car you choose.

I felt the same way before I made the move to the serpent spent 5 bills on spare parts and I still have a lot with a year worth of racing these machines are super durable wouldn't make up stories even the drive train pins last coming from a Losi very happy with its package.

Before I even had the car I had spent 190 on tires. Lol. And I was happy to only spend that much. Buy the front and rear shock springs and some basic parts. That's all you will need to have some fun. Mine was locked in out of the box. I run the only serpent e buggy and one guy runs the truggy. That is all in my area as far as serpent support. Come join the team. The on line spport is excellent.

As I mentioned before I really like the design of Serpent and I think it's currently one of the most interresting buggies on the market. In spite of being a non-aggressive driver I like to have spare parts. I know that most of the time they are not needed. I've been driving a Losi car for about 3 years which was extremely unpopular here. I had a box of parts and none of the suspension parts were used but to know that when something goes wrong you will not be able to do anything takes much of the pleasure of racing. Most of my friends (who could help me at the track) drive Mugens so that's the main reason I decided to buy an ECO.
I hear people saying things right before a race like "I guess the serpent is the real deal" or "dude are you kidding me, you're in second!?" LOL. I'm not the best driver but this car is making me like that. I will hear my lap time as I'm crossing the line and think to myself, "how in the world did I just turn that fast of a lap?". It feels like you're going slow but that''s how this buggy likes to be driven, under control and steady.

Got a Tekin 2050kv RX8 combo on my serpent 811be
Everything set up perfectly, solder on great. Motor does not run if I plug in sensor wire. Tried replacing the sensor wire but still same. (servo works with it plugged in but no throttle) If I take it off the wire, motor runs... any help would be appreciated.
FYI
I setup the same on my Losi SCTE 4600kv rx8. w/ sensor wire (works fine)
Both cars on programmed to my Spektrum DX3s
