Got to race my Clocked P5 today in my truggy. Running a 2058 pipe with M2C flywheel with 4 1.0 springs and no weights in the flywheel. Engine is just freaking ballistic! Its got about 3/4 gallon on it so its not quite there yet and it was still throwing my truggy around like a rag doll. 5 minute heats came in with the fuel right at the seam of the tank. Qualified 6TH overall. As usual though the D8T broke while checking in for the main and I spent that time in the pits. Sold the D8T on my way home from the track for $100...

Hey guys, I have gotten one of the first Novarossi P5xlt from Neil about a month ago. Well, I finally have gotten over the 2 gallon mark and this motor is starting to loosen up. Here is what I run it in:
Mugen MBX6r
Novarossi 9886 Pipe and short header
Nove Medium Plug
Byron's 30%/9% Oil
This motor is absolutely phenominal. It has taken over 2 gallons to loosen up so engine life will probably be pretty darn good. The motor ran flawless all day yesterday and is one of the easiest motors to tune. I had heard some stories about Novas being really touchy and hard to tune. Not so at all!!! If you have both the LSN and HSN perfectly flush you can not miss a tune with a P5! After than it is a few hours in on the HSN and you can leave the LSN flush and it will run like a bat out of hell or if you are trying to squeeze the mileage out of it lean the LSN a few hours too and it is tuned perfectly!!!!!!! Speaking of mileage, with the combo I listed yes 10 minute+ run times is more than possible with the right tune, fuel, and glow plug. Out of a lot of buggies, me and a pro driver were the only ones able to go 10+ pit stops! I won my very long main by 4 secs. and I pitted 1 time less than a few guys and 2 times lees than most people!!!! The 4 second victory was do to pit strategy!
As for power. The whole modded engine idea really concerned me. I was affraid I would blow the tires off of it!!!! Not so at all. This Nova makes as much or more power than any OS Speed or anything else out there. The power is smooth and the top end is lethal on it!!!! zLike Neal said, he spends a ton of time dynoimg and running these engines in stock form to see where they fall short, then makes improvements on where it falls short. On the P5 the top is lacking a little and I can assure you it has been more than fixed!!!!It has a lot of torque and just a stab of the throttle and I am able to clear jumps much easier than my OS XZ-B before. As for the straight away I was pulling everybody by quite a bit. There was not one buggy or motor that could keep up or pass me on a straight away. It really shined when you were coming out of a tight turn and had a short little 30 to 40 feet straight to the next turn. The torque and power it makes and it accelerated like my ebuggy. This is where it was really handing people their lunches. I had no problem getting the power to the ground in the Mugen MBX6r. As we like to say in Knoxville, it straight hooks n' books!!!!! The great thing about the motor besides the run time, is after 45 minutes of pushing it as hard as I could, it came off at 208!!!! It was absolutely screaming too!!! Feels like a diesel on the low end, and a 572 cubic inch hemi with a 14-71 blower on the top end!

I want another one as a backup here pretty soon!!!!

Yea at this point I really just wanted it gone. I know a dozen people with this truggy and none of them have the problems I was having. I spent all day Friday wrenching on it to get ready for Saturday's race. I put $80 in new parts on it including a complete brand new rebuild of the entire drive line including axles and diffs and bulkheads. That was the second time in 2 months I completely rebuilt the driveline. All new pins and couplers at every dogbone, all new bearings and I re-shimmed both diffs. The set screws on both front and rear pinions are red thread locked and I took extra care to make sure the set srews were on the flat spot of the pins. Truggy ran great for practice, and both quali's and I double checked a few things before the main. Roll em out and check em in and 2 laps in my entire rear diff just let go. Ran down to pit lane just to see if maybe I got the only bad bottle of red thread lock on the planet but the rear drive extension was tight and secure on the pinion and I could not even turn the set screw without applying heat. I did not take it apart because I am so over it, but it actually feels like there is no pinion gear head in the rear bulkhead anymore. I can spin the driveline and the rear diff is not engaged at all. Maybe the ring gear ripped off the diff case. I don't know and don't care. Had a issue with this truggy every time I raced it since I bought it so now I'm back to buggy only until the A8T comes.

BTW nice backdrop in your pic there

My delema now is that I don't want to buy another brand Truggy regardless of how great it is because the Agama truggy should be released in 4-5 months. I want to stick to the same brand since I love the buggy so much and 90% of the parts will be interchangeable. I'm pissed though because truggy was so much fun to race and I was faster with the truggy than I am with buggy when I actually finished a race
I don't want to buy a brand new kit only to sell it in 6 months.
