Go Engine USA 2011 Thread

Answer R/C was the Massive Mods importer a couple years ago. There just didn't seem to be many racers buying them in the US.

This year has been very good for me running the Go Engines. The engines are lasting a long time and without issue. Suggestions from testing have been emailed to the factory and it seems they are very committed to producing great engines.
I honestly will say the new Go Line up is a great balance of performance and Price. I would and do suggest to anyone. Recently I received a few engines to test from the Factory over the winter. These have a new carb and now have three needles. The crank is coated with what looks to be a more durable coating and the head button is a new coated aluminum/material.
Give Go credit. They have stuck with it and came from a very low level engine! These guys are putting out great quality now for a very good price!
I just got these so no time to really break down because we are leaving for a event but when I get back I will start breaking in and running. These have "engraved on them" "plus" so apparently when on the market these will be the GXII 5R Plus engines.
Here are a few pictures:

Be interesting to see what difference there is internally for sure.
We have been running the 3 needle carb here for a month or so now, and there is a definite performance increase over the 2 needle.
The motors are sharper, with better low end and mid range response.
We just ran our National Champs for 2011 here, and the GO's were super reliable as usual.
Our team driver ran two motors (buggy and truggy), and after the four days of practice and racing including back to back 30 min semis and back to back 1 hour finals, all we did to the motors was to fit a new plug to each one before the hour final. Not one glitch or flame out over the four days
.One interesting thing we found with the new carb was we ran 7.5mm restrictors as opposed to the normal 6.5 we have been running - gaining even more performance but still with excellent economy. The new carb has a 1mm larger throat, so our thinking was the larger restrictor allows the carb to breath better with no loss in run time.
PS: we have found base settings for the 3 needle differ a lot from the 2 needle.
1.5 turns in from flush on the HSN, and 1 turn out from flush on the LSN is a good slightly rich starting point.
You will most likely end up a smidge leaner on the top and anything up to 1/2 a turn leaner on the bottom at full race tune depending on variations in fuel and plug etc.

matt......you don't need to throw more dirt around...you need to throw less dirt into the marshalls shoes and faces....(little rocks can hurt to you know...
)LMAO
and you know i'd only get my motors from nitro-north...how many times do i have to tell ya that lol....as long as A-Main stays out of the picture, GO is gonna be my main motors for quite awhile!!!!

On the buggy we missed a pit stop by 3 laps (I wasn't yelling loud enough
) and came in at 9.15 with a little fuel still in the bottom. The track was super dusty and blown out, plus the temps were in the highish 20's (celsius) and we were 220 metres above sea level, so I was pretty happy with that for run time in the buggy. The 3 needle in the truggy was making wicked power, but we were conservative and just pitting at 7.30 as the track was a car killer, so we just wanted to circulate and take no chances. From what we have seen at club meetings so far with the 3 needles the economy is about the same, but you are getting more power. We have truggies getting 12.30 - 13.00 run times with the 2 needle, so we will try the larger 7.5 mm back on the home track at sea level and see if the extra power is still there without effecting economy. I hope so, as the 3 needle and 7.5 restricter make the GXII a rocket ship

Just run the stock shim stack of 1 x .3mm alloy shim and 1 x .2mm copper shim and a med temp plug. We find the O'Donnell 97T the best all round plug for these motors.

Moto: Do you have the 3-needle carbs yet and do you have any info on release dates for the PLUS? I may also be running buggy for Nitro Challenge 2012 in February and I'm planning now so I have enough testing time on the different configurations.
