Could be they changed the VR to another make/model, or you just got a bad one it happens...

i once fried one of those on a lighting rig and the result was that it had enough power for one of the 4 LEDs, and only just at that so it would "fit the symptoms"

It's actually pretty easy, Remove the bottom 3...

It's actually pretty easy, Remove the bottom 3 screws (2 in the battery bit and the one half way up the handle) bend it open, the battery tray will fall out. Cut the wires off close to the battery...

The way i would do it would be to drill into both sides and then insert a pin and then libeally coat the entire thing in CA and maybe externaly reinforce. But then i would also just order the spare...

What i'd do is drill a hole in both sides and glue a metal pin in (or 2 if you have enough space/material to do it) and then glue it...

I checked the wikipage on traction control...

I checked the wikipage on traction control briefly it seems one of the ways they manage it is simply by reducing engine power when it threatens to kill everyone on board... that should be doable...
