Default 17.5? 13.5? 10.5?

I haven't been into RC in 6 years, and am just now getting back.... Yeah!~ So, with this brushless stuff... what do these numbers MEAN? I know 17.5 is like 27turn brushed, 13.5 is like 19 turn etc... but the numbers are?

thanks!

Originally they claimed that the brushless number represented half the number equal to a brushed motor. So a 13.5 was supposed to be the same as a 27t.. but as we found out early on, a 13.5 was much much faster. A 6.5 motor, one of the most popular for offroad in my opinion is more like a 9t brushed than a 13t. Another way they rate them by KV value.. this number multiplied by the number of volts applied is the RPM the motor will yeild.

I would have to check but I think a 13.5 would have 13.5 turns of wire on each pole in the can. Like I said I would have to check. So the number does mean something just not in comparison to a brushed motor.

just look at em like u did ur brushed stuff, just a different scale. soon comparison to brushed will be gone b/c ur only real reference pt (save for 540 can racing) will be brushless motors.
