Default RC Roadblock

It has been many years since I have run a R/C Car. I bought a Losi XX-BK and some NiCDs some years ago and eventually bought a T-Maxx. I haven't seen those R/C cars for a long time. 8 years later, I have made the jump back into the R/C world with a Losi 8ight. I bought a 8ight RTR and then picked up a used 8ight Comp Roller on this forum. I just bought $250 dollars worth of support equipment from Amain (filters/glowplugs/clutch box/shock rebuild box/rx batts/and a lot of other misc) I haven't even broke in the engine on the RTR, and I am hesitant.

I have everything I need to start racing, and I have doubts. I feel like I am not going to be up to dealing with the maintenance of nitro. I am very busy and I have had this urge to get a hobby back into my life and maybe I should chill, get a slash and just bash. I hate having buyers remorse....

Anybody else get these random urges and then want to go a completely different route?

tiamatu,

nice to see another person on the forums in the same basic prediciment (sp?) that I am in. I originally started RC racing at the age of 12 or so, with the Losi JR-X2... was into it for many years, then took a 11 year break. Got back into onroad electric TC racing back in 2000, did it till about 2004, then took a break. I have JUST decided to get back into RC and racing a couple weeks ago and am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new chassis.

Originally I had the same basic fears as you... but I sat on / slept on the decision for a couple weeks so I could really make sure. My fear of remorse wasn't for the purchase itself... I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make the long drive to the race track 2,3, or 4 times a month. (my drive is 1.5 hours). So I played with the idea for a few weeks, and finally decided that I just love the hobby too much, and considering my girlfriend commutes 1 hour each way to work 5 times a week... I could certainly do 1.5 hours, 2 or 3 times a month.

Anyway, I think in your case, I would just start. Even if you quickly realise that it may be a mistake, the used market is good enough where you could get a pretty decent return on the used items. I think you are ok either way.
