Default Lipo battery articles - good read

per SMC batteries:

http://rctruckstop.com/2019/09/25/ex...ipo-batteries/

https://www.smc-racing.com/index.php...y&path=174_175

from one of the articles:

A few common mistakes are discharging the cells down to low under load due to an improper voltage cut off setting. Ideally you don’t want the cells to be under 3.6V right after the cutoff has kicked in and having the cells in the high 3.6 to low 3.7 is ideal. You must not leave the packs stored fully charged or with too much charge. You should store them around 3.8 to 3.85V per cell.

I asked them about how long you can keep a pack fully charged. for how long.

Per Danny Sullivan:
"I wouldn't store a pack fully charged for more than a day as this really makes the materials more active and can lead to cell issues and will shorten cycle life."

Keep in mind cheaper batteries typically (but not necessarily) have lower quality cells and more expensive batteries typically have higher quality cells. The lipo cells are binned at the factory and battery brands choose what level of quality they find acceptable for their batteries.

Otherwise, don't run them too long, don't store them too high, keep them about 1/2 charge (as per voltages listed above). If your car is slowing down, your battery is empty don't turn the car on and off to make it keep going, just go and recharge it. Although it may be the best to use a charger to get exactly 3.85v per cell balanced, just approximating is good if you don't have a fancy charger. Just try to stay between 20-80%
