I am having an issue with a brand new t-300 servo. I sent an email to tekin, but thought I’d ask on here for help too.
I built a new etruggy for this year. I bought this t-300 servo March 9 from amain hobbies for my etruggy. I planned on new electronics so I bought this servo. Rx8 systems are out of stock everywhere so I put my backup gen 1 rx8 and 2000 truggy motor in. The servo glitched right off the bat. I thought there was something wrong with the servo because of this, but wasn’t sure. I know the servo shows speed and torque ratings with voltages from 6.0-8.4, but thought maybe there was an issue since the system I put in was 10 years old.
Because of this I bought a new 2000 motor and different speed controller because I couldn’t find any rx8 systems or escs in stock anywhere. After doing this I still had the same problem. Changed the voltage going to the servo and still same problem.

I plugged my old ds1015 in and it works fine, plugged a p2 evo servo in and it works fine and also plugged a bk bls ss hs and it works fine.

Added video to YouTube

Any help would be appreciated.

When you say glitching, do you mean the servo steers a small amount side to side at neutral, or is it steering a large amount?

If a small amount, does it do it when the wheels are on the ground also?

The Tekin servos are set pretty aggressive out of the package, and can "stutter" unloaded (wheels off the ground, but still steer correctly with radio input. Seems to be worse with bigger, heavier wheels.

You can turn down the aggressiveness with the hot wire servo program, and any stutters should go away without affecting speed and power of the servo. I usually set my offroad servos to not stutter at any time, and my onroad servos to not stutter when the suspension is loaded.

This is pretty common across all brands of programmable servos I have. My PGS-HR on my 1/12 pan car looks like a chihuahua in winter when I have the car in hand, but once it's set down, I have the hard hold around center I want. My T180 on my 2wd buggy is set in the middle of the aggressiveness scale (one or two down from the as-shipped setting, if I recall) and I can get it to "stutter" if I rap a wheel with my knuckle in hand, but again, has the precise holding I want on track.

If you're getting big swings of "glitching", then you have another issue than what I have discussed.

It is fine when just sitting there.
I mean glitching as in I turn the steering wheel a small amount and hold it there with the steering wheel, but the servo will go from that small amount to 75% then back to the amount I’m turning the wheel then back to 75% and bounce back and forth all while I’m keeping the steering wheel in the same spot.

Have you got the endpoints set correctly so the servo isn’t straining at the end of the travel? The Tekin servos have a strain relief feature and so will jump back to a more central position if they are overloaded.

also, which radio and receiver are you using?

Thanks for your input... not an endpoint issue

What steering mode do you have set on your Futaba?

Looks like an incompatible mode is set, the servo should work fine on whatever the "normal digital" servo setting is, not any kind of high speed special mode you may have the option of.

Yeah, you're right it should work fine, but it doesn't. I have reset the settings, tried normal, high speed, different receiver, etc but no go. Like I said brand new, never ran, just dropped it in and have been trouble shooting since day 1. The other tekin servo I have is working fine. It is a t-250 in my ebuggy and so far no issues with that one. I guess the only thing left to do is plug it in to a spektrum receiver and give it a try with my 3pk.
I was just hoping I was missing something and seeing if anyone else had any issues with them. Other than that I am guessing it's just a dud.

Would suck if so, but hit up Tekin and see if they have any ideas or get you an RMA going.

See my post above, sounds like the sensitivity is set high.

Does it settle down when the tires are loaded?

Mine did the same exact thing was not centering and jumping and very frustrating. Also my RX8 died after landing a jump on it’s very first battery which was the last straw before switching brands for racing. I have had no problem so far with Tekin in either of my crawlers for over 2 years though

It’s the accuracy and repeatability I guess since they all seem to do it
