Any currently approved motors going to gain paperweight status?

As long as this doesn't effectively ban previously approved motors, this can only be a good thing.

Good rule. I know a guy who rewinds motors, stock as also modified and knows to shorten the total length of the wire very well to lower the resistance with the same amount of windings

No, this won't affect existing motors. But it will extend the useful life of existing motors. If ROAR had done this only a few years ago, we would have avoided the short-stack motor war, and the latest skinny-stack motor war.

It says 4 years... if the motor is still in production (cough Novak... cough) then the manufacturer can submit to renew for another 4 years for free. These rules will prevent folks from running older motors as most brands discontinue a series of motor and move forward regardless.

I was referring to the IR limit, I didn't even notice the 4 year clause.
