Default SP Reventon ESC Garbage

Just bought a new in the box Speed Passion Reventon S speed control from a member here. Great deal, fast delivery and item new as described. I couldn't ask for a better transaction.

I install the ESC in a TC3 sedan with a Trackstar 21.5 motor and set it up for blinky with the included program card and my laptop running the SP software. The car ran great and I thought I was set so I put it away for race day.

I pull it out tonight, plug in the 2s lipo, turn on the power and I get steering but no throttle. Zip...nada...nothing. Connect it up to my laptop with the SP software and the ESC isn't recognized.

No magic smoke, no smell, nothing but dead ESC. I now have a POS dead ESC and I'm ticked-off with Speed Passion. Time to get another Hobbywing.

You mentioned it was new in the box. Perhaps the seller still has the receipt they can send you for warranty replacement?

Have you tried contacting SP directly? I've always found their support pretty decent actually. It's always a good idea to try at least.

The warranty registration card wasn't included in the box. Again, SOL

Note:
All returns must include receipt from USA seller, warranty card, name address phone # and email address inside the package to be processed.

Speed Passion product sold to dealers and consumers in the USA is for USA customer use only. There will be no warranty or repair service for USA labeled product from customers outside of the USA

You may have to rebind the radio to the esc?

If you mean, have I tried to re calibrate the neutral/forward/brake then the answer is yes. The ESC isn't even recognized when I connect it to the computer with the SP software. The board must be defective.

That's a bummer to hear; sounds like you got caught in a no-win situation. I have multiple Reventon ESCs and none have had problems, with the exception of weak brakes on the Stock Club. One last thing to try when connecting it to your pc - have you tried doing it with the fan disconnected? I've never had this problem, but I've heard of others who have.

I dusted off an old 19T brushed motor, LRP Quantun ESC, connected everything and it all works great. Electronics have come a long way, but reliability hasn't.

SP replied to my email to ask me for the actual sales receipt, which of course I do not have because of the online sale. The classic "dog chasing his tail" scenario here and I am still SOL.

B4 it rattles your cage. A guy posted to recalibrate the ESC. Your steering tells me you RX works. Your ESC forgot the calibration when you disconnected the Battery. It does happen time to time. Maybe its saved this time.

I have tried to re-calibrate the ESC. Push the button on the switch, turn on the ESC, release when th light blinks, etc... The ESC doesn't go into calibration mode so no help there.

In the end, my ESC has malfunctioned, I have no sales receipt, I reside in Canada and any one of these alone is enough for SP to refuse to help. SOL
