Also no lag. Just got home running onroad WGTR and had zero issues. No lag not radio hits.
|
I just went with the 4PV.
|
I have one of these coming this week. I plan on using it for a back up radio while I send my 4PX out for servicing. I'll offer this up to my girlfriend to see if she likes it better than the 4PL for comfort. Feature wise it won't make a difference....

I need a cheapie radio for my rtr stuff, how's the response on this compared to some of the better sanwa stuff? Any experience out there?
I'm looking at this and some of the flysky stuff. |

I'm looking at this and some of the flysky stuff. From what Ive read here the flysky stuff is real spotty. seen things to do with expo being way off, wheel return springs breaking, full left turn not matching the same response as full right turn etc. As for the Futaba vs Sanwa part, there shouldnt be any difference in response as theyre both good solid brands even with their lower end models. Just will have to choose based on the feel of it and which upper end model you might end up with since you can always just keep the receiver and get the tx only later |
My son races with a 3pv and he is faster than me and has no issues with the radio. He likes it because it's light. It's response is dependent on the format of the receiver. The s-fhss or t-fhss are faster than the plain fhss receivers. The receivers are smaller and cheaper than most others. Futaba in my experience has the most range out of all the other radios.

Necklace
Does anyone know how to attach a necklace for Futaba 3PV?
It came with a tiny screw driver looking tool but not sure how to use that to attach any lace. Thanks! |
Just chimming in on this radio. I'm an old fart getting back to RC. Sold all my stuff a couple of years ago and now going back just to calm an itch to drive a few times a year. Decided on this radio for its price and brand. When I got it the trigger was loose so I decided to open it up to fix it. I was able to do that and found out that you can also adjust the tension by moving the spring and adjust position from 50/50 to 85/15 (just estimating). I like more throttle feel and tension and I'm glad you can make adjustments internally. I am just finishing up my build so I can't comment on its performance. I'll check in again in a week or so and share my thoughts.

Hi Izzy, good to see you back at Tamiya again. I'm also wondering about this radio and see if I should recommend it to new guys. Since it supports T-FHSS system so I'm a little interested to see if the response speed is same as 4PX or 4PV and others also using T-FHSS system. I have a few car running R204GF-E and the response is indeed slower than T-FHSS and FASST C2.

Thanks for posting, this is an interesting tip! Is there now any 'dead zone' in the throttle when squeezed all the way in?

Hi! I have not tried the other Futaba radios and I could not say if it's as fast or what not. But I could not see anything wrong with the radio except for that initial issue with the trigger which was probably a fluke from assembly and blessing or I would have not known I can make adjustment with tension and position. No complaints for me regarding speed, as a matter of fact I think it's as good as any good racing radio as far as basics. Very simple to use which is great for new comers. C u around.

I was thinking about getting this radio as a bashing radio, so that I can buy cheap receivers for several different models.
Is Futaba pretty reliable about not dropping support for a model? For example, I made the mistake of buying an airtronics MX3-FHSS which the manufacturer quickly dropped support for and finding receivers became difficult. I'd like to avoid that situation for this purchase. The radio will be used for my son (11yrs old) to race with as well as bashing use around the house, which will likely include controlling a boat. |
