Sanwa MTS Radio

Most commonly it's only one. Some places can sell it with two, but in those cases the product name/description will say as much.
Yeah, I was considering a RX-471W for a waterproof one. Although the only waterproof ESCs I have are for my 1/16 Traxxas. But I suppose it'd be nice to be able to drive it in winter with my better controller rather than the RTR - can't fit my MX-V's receivers nor the RX-482 in the receiver box. Although I actually should weather seal the servo too (it's an aftermarket one).
Oh and speaking of size, some of the 482's small footprint advantage is negated by the fact that since I move it between cars, it uses velcro to stay on. Which kinda requires a bigger surface area to be secure than the 482 has. Even for the bigger RX-37Es of the MX-V I made the velcro area bigger via a lexan "platform" on which I mounted the receiver, they stay put quite well that way. The 482 as is, not so much!
I found the transponder the hardest connector to get on and remove actually. To remove it I need to use pliers. Although the USB adapter for driving in VRC is also nutty to get on, I even trimmed the connectors quite a bit and still have major trouble connecting! On the RX-37E those work just fine too. Clearly sometimes expensive is not better in every regard...

That did not play well with the rx481. But that definitely complicates things having to use velcro to move from car to car! That's something I couldn't get myself to do lol

I hear ya man haha I had to remove my old Protek servo plug with pliers because they are just squared off edges all the way around

Yeah, just too many cars to buy dedicated receivers, especially now with FH4. Six 1/10 electric cars, one 1/16 if I start using it with the MT-S as well, and one nitro monster that I'll probably sell at some point. Likely more electrics coming at some point. Ugh! Two is enough to not have to switch receivers from car to car on race days. But should really get a second transponder at some point, too bad they're even more expensive than the receivers!

For transponders I recommend just buying them used if you wanna save some dough
With the right seller I can get a used one for $75 if you're going for the rc4 2-wire transponders. I've only ever bought one new and that was because I was an idiot and left my transponders at home lol so I had to fork out for a new one at the track if I wanted to keep my lap times.

I looked at that one on eBay as well... not a huge difference to the cheapest FH4 ones there though. Always slightly risky ordering from outside EU though, if the package gets "caught" by customs. Same goes for transponders of course, the cheapest one in eBay seems to be $87 shipped while it is $115 in Finland. Not much difference if customs fees apply, though.
There were actually a few FH4 ones available for a quite decent price lightly used just recently at our "national" discussion forum, but I hadn't decided on the upgrade yet at that point. And before Christmas there was similarly a decent sale on some new ones.
I'm actually contemplating buying some cheap JR extension cords that I could keep plugged in the 482 at all times and then plug the electronics into the looser extension cord terminals despite the added cable mess... sad

Still I'd only use that in a basher, I'd still fork over the extra cash for the RX481 or 482 for my race vehicles. And I am with you on the extension cord deal it's not a bad idea where weight isn't an issue. Right now I'm lucky enough that my ESCs have a detachable cable that I can remove on the ESC side if I want to take it out or make changes with the program box so it's kinda the same concept just minus the extension lol

Oh, yeah. I've been pondering about a transport solution myself. I didn't have one for my previous transmitters, just chucked it in the car bag. And especially the MX-V is a bit scratched for all that. Sanwa's own bags are a bit pricey. Turnigy does have at least one cheap case that should fit according to reviews and dimensions, but it lacks the form-fitting padding and wouldn't do much for impacts, only scratching. Of course scratches are the more common adversary.
EDIT: Spotted the foam version from Turnigy as well. It is for the MT-4, but after all the MT-S is pretty much the same shape, someone commented it fits. It's about 2,5 times for expensive than the other one, though. Third option is between the two in cost, almost the same as the first in style but with some customizable foam, so probably a better option than the first. But I guess the MT-4 case would make the most sense in the end.

Ended up pulling the trigger on the RX-471W. Now to hope customs doesn't charge me extra for it... I guess we shall see. Will probably take 3 weeks or more to arrive. Since it's waterproof I can use it in my Traxxas as well as for a crawler if I buy one for the summer and not worry if I end up in a pond or something.
Also ordered a 1600mAh LiFe battery for the MT-S, that should arrive this week already. Considered ordering a second one for the MX-V (currently mostly using it with an airsoft LiPo), but with the second receiver coming for the MT-S I'm not sure if the MX-V is going to get used. And at least I can test-fit the first battery to make sure it even fits on both, though based on dimensions it should.

Just purchased my first Sanwa radio, the MT-S with a 461 telemetry receiver, really excited to get my hands on that radio
I want to order a second receiver, which is capable of showing the voltage of the hump(rx)-pack in my nitro GT. I dont need the SSL feature, because i have no Sanwa esc.
So, to you Sanwa experts: Which receiver should i go with?
I dont want to use the RX-48x with internal antenna, because i only run 8scale outdoors and i read some people had range issues. Also, i know that the RX-482/472 comes with the SSL feature i dont need.
RX's to choose from: RX-471(2) / 471W / 461(2) / 47T
Which one should i get and has the voltage telemetry without sensors?

Really impressed by the new radio. Did a quick comparison with analog servos mounted in a radio-tray i had laying around between mts and absima cr3p (fs gt3b). Difference: night and day!!
Also tested the temp and rpm sensor (with a pen). This rx goes into my Nitro IGT2, thinking of getting the rx-462 for my Electric IGT2 to have telemetry of the main battery. Both cars are track cars and in the electric GT8 series battery consumption is enormous, 6000mah and above are done after 6:30 runtime, so having that voltage telemetry the 462 offers would be a nice feature. However i am still uncertain, if i really need the 462. Maybe i will put the 461 into the electric car and just get a rx-47t for the nitro car. In the meanwhile i found out the rx-461/462/47T/472 all offer rx-battery voltage telemetry (prob. the only thing i need for the nitro car), but how is it with the rx-471???

Protek makes a dedicated case that you can reuse if you upgrade to a different transmitter by switching the foams. You can get a soft case from Sanwa as well. The MT-44 batteries are different than all the other batteries that are meant for the Sanwa transmitters, so the battery won't fit. The rx481/2 is the best 1/10 receivers you can get. The rx471/2 is the best for 1/8 scale.

Yeah, can't use a 1-cell with a MT-S anyway, as the MT-S needs a minimum of 4V. And while the 1-cell is 4.2V when fully charged, it doesn't stay that way for long. Personally I just stuck a 2S LiFe battery from Intellect in there, but Turnigy has cheaper options that work just as well.
