I bought a new 1/8 Rally car not too long ago and have finally had a chance to put a radio and battery in it.

After installing the radio, receiver and batteries, I found that the steering was "twitchy". It would respond to commands, but was slow, twitched, and would mysteriously move on its own.

I put two additional radios and receivers in there and had the same problem.

It has to be the ESC. I'm at wits end with it. I'm frustrated because it's a new ESC, but it's a HobbyKing so I guess I'm not out too much.

Follow your Binding of TX & RX, w/o Steering & ESC connected. Connect Steering & ESC, Adj trims at 12 o'clock and EPA at 100%. Calibrate your RX & ESC as manual states(neutral, Full Throttle, Braking). Make sure batteries are charged.

I am going to start from the beginning and follow those steps. Maybe I've just been too frustrated and needed to walk away from it for a bit.

What kind of servo? Sounds like the BEC in the ESC is a little weak...a capacitor sounds like it is needed.

a cap will not help this issue. You will need to install a Ubec or bec.. and remove the center wire.. that's the only way to fix this problem..
Esc bec is weak..that's the problem.

So the last guy you "helped" with a twitchy servo, you suggested a glitch-buster cap....now you're saying its not going to help in this guys case. Do you even know what a capacitor does?
