My 24k 17.5 came in today. Haven't had it on the track yet but I have done some side by side comparisons to my D4 1s certified.
First video is of my D4 1s certified with timing at 50 degrees on can, gearing at 69/33 with an Orion R10 Pro and an Orion 4500 100c batt in an RB6 3 gear tranny and slipper lock out installed.
Second video is the 24k same exact gearing, battery and ESC with can timing at 50, same as D4.
As you can see it is very punchy and seems faster. I'll have it on the track tomorrow to find out just how good it is.

The 24KO features a bigger blank with more material in the stator. This makes it harder to heat soak the stator, and able to handle more timing and higher gearing. These qualities make the 24KO a better choice for high load applications such as any boosted class, heavier vehicles and short tracks.
The 24K features a smaller blank with less material in the stator that produces more power than the 24KO, but is easier to heatsoak. This motor is faster than the KO initially, but depending on gearing, timing and load it could fall off more at the end of the run when compared to the KO. Because of this, the standard 24K is recommended for blinky applications.

I track tested my 24KO today and I have to say I'm very disappointed. I choose the KO because it is suggested for short tracks, heavy vehicles (which mine is not), and high loads. My track is small to medium size with lots of turns and several doubles and a couple triples all clearable in 17.5.
Before the track I had it in my buggy driving up and down the street and it had very high RPMs according to my RSX logging feature. It felt decent in the street. However, the track was another story. The 24KO felt gutless and after about four minutes I could feel the power begin to fade as I watched it struggle to clear a double triple that my D4 1s makes with little to no trouble. I tried several changes such as varying timing anywhere to mid 40s as high as mid 60s and gearing from 71/31 to 78/28. All to no avail.
Maybe I should have gotten the non-O. Possible dud?

the 24k motors won both sct and buggy 17.5 at our regional winter series race last weekend, its the OHKY II and it had about 200 entries and stacked fields in both classes so I would say they performed very well.
