Dyno runs are only a few seconds and they don't use much Ahrs.

I haven't done any detailed testing but 5 back to back runs and the power output is the same.

What are you using to load test?

Thanks, Tom

Question regarding a speed control for this. Will a hobbywing xtreme stock work? I would like to get something that will not need a lot of set up to get going. Let me know your thoughts.

Handle it easily, I am using a Hobbyking X-Car 60A with Hobbywing Blinky firmware on it.

That's what I am using. Works fine, just make sure it is in blinky mode.

I have noticed some ESC's do not like the dyno though, Both a Tekin RS Gen 2 and a Trackstar Turbo 80A both in blinky mode will seldom run, something about recognising neutral point before start. The Tekin I have had one run work out of 20 trys, the Trackstar won't even do the test esc thing without cutting out. Both work fine in cars etc

Would be nice if we could control the esc by a radio and have the dyno just pick up the data, would also help lessen the current load on the dyno as the esc would be powered direct by battery

Also found that as it does not give any power to the esc while in standby, only when doing a dyno run ESC's with a soft (push) power switch such as the Hobbywing V3.1 won't work either, the Dyno only seems to work with ESC's with a mechanical (slide switch) where the ESC can be left switched on.

I had no issues with the HW V3.1 or SP Revention Pro both which have soft push buttons.

The dyno provides power to the ESC so that you can push the button to turn it on before pushing the start button and performing the run.

+1

You can see me do it with a SP Reventon Pro 1.1 soft push button.

Watch from the 5:50 mark.

I've made some improvements to how RC Crew Chief imports, displays and now allows direct comparison between up to 4 Dyno files. This makes evaluating different motors, timing settings or motor tuning tweaks a lot easier. A couple screen shots are attached below. These improvements are being tested in the Team Version right now and will be released for all very soon.
