Fried my Mamba Max Pro

So I fried my Mamba Max Pro running a 6.5 motor in my XB4 (1/10 4wd buggy) in sensored mode. Since the Mamba Max Pro can handle 6S, I assumed a small, lightweight buggy running a 6.5 on 2S would be just fine. No? Should I switch to something else? Unfortunately, Castle's website isn't real clear about the capabilities of this ESC in relation to low turn motors. Tekin for instance makes it very clear what the RS Gen 2 and the RSX can handle.

Continous problems with a Mamba Monster 1 then frying a Mamba Monster 2 was enough to turn me away from Castle for good. I switched to Hobbywing. I'd be making the switch if I were you to either Hobbywing or Tekin.

I've had very good luck w/ Mamba Monsters and with the old green Mamba Maxx, and their small scale (18th scale) stuff has been bulletproof for me. Jury's out on the MMP for me. I just wish Castle would be more clear regarding their capabilities, but maybe that just reflects their focus on bashers and not racers.

I have always has good luck with castle stuff also. Only fried a sct (bought used worked once) and an sv2 ran in snow and totally my fault. I believe there is no limit on the mmp for motor. I have even ran 4s with it in a slash 2wd and the 3800kv 4 pole geared to the moon. Having said that seems about 50/50 for peoples luck running them but the bec seems the weak link.

It should be able to handle the setup you had. I've seen loads of castle esc's blow up. Personally I've had 2 XL2's go on me. Won't use castle again personally. I now use Muchmore speedos in my onroad stuff and tekin in my offroad stuff. Never had any of these fail.

I personally believe Castle makes some quality products, and when I first got into electric RC many years ago (after many many years in nitro) I used a lot of their products. While I still think they have great motors, I did have my share of their ESC's which went up in smoke which were being used in applications which were well withing the capabilities of their ESC (I have also thought it odd how they do not list specific specs for their products). Having been on forums for many years as well I can definitely say that there does seem to be an overwhelming amount of "My Castle ESC Burnt Up" stories out there. I've gone to all SkyRC products (TS120 on my race rigs) and have been very happy with the performance.

I run the Castle mmp in everything from comp crawler to 10lb scaler to tekno 1/8 ebuggy and tekno 410 sct. I have found that they run better with the 3.2 firmware in them. It's iffy whether they like the newest firmware or not. ALL of my MMP's also have a CCBEC to help them out.
