To the OP, you've calibrated the Tx to your ESC I'm assuming?

Programmed the ESC, ok, but did you calibrate the transmitter to the ESC?

Calibrating the esc to the Transmitter, allows the esc to see throttle trigger end points. ei, full throttle and full brake. Make sure when doing this, the truck is off the floor, wheels suspended. Programming an esc is not neccessarily calibrating it. Below in the vid, he calibrates it first, then programs it.

I told him I would post images to help clear this up. I pm'd him for an overhead shot of the buggy to help identify it so the proper gearing could be figured out. He said it has 17/56 gearing. It's some type of Mugen.

OK, seems to me that ESC should have no trouble with that motor. I'll restate that the vast majority of sensored motors can be run sensorless without issue. Agree? I think if we assume that everything is hooked up properly and calibrated, what should be done at this point is get a temp gun and start gearing it up until an acceptable speed is achieved or the temp limit is reached.

I agree and that's my thinking. I have told him the guidelines for temps and to caution him to check temps VERY often as he changes gearing. This the Ebayer I bought my Maxx from and brought him here, for the skillz and knowledge. He's pretty new to all this and could really use the expertise on this.

Eta I'm hoping to identify the buggy, so he would know the factory gearing for it. Then start fudging it to what it needs to be.

I'll take a top picture of the car when I get home. All help on gearing this up will be greatly appreciated.

I recognize the top plate on the center diff. I'm sure its an Ofna LX1-E or it could be a 2 as well tho I guess. I ran with 14-18T pinions on mine with no problems but with a Castle 2200Kv and MMM ESC.

So calibration and programming are correct? No binding in the drivetrain? OP should bring it to someone that has experience in this hobby IMO.

Cool thanks for the ID on it. I haven't talked with him this evening, waiting for more pics. I also haven't heard if he successfully calibrated the esc. I told him to check this thread a few times a day. He said he has a 17T pinion in it now. What spur were you running in you'res? I guess Tekin doesn't follow the KV thing, a lower KV is more efficent and faster? People on my post above were also saying a 1700 was slower than a 2200. But I don't know Tekin and their specs.

Yup. looks like it to me. Some on another forum saying it does about 50mph?

I was running stock spur whatever that was....and with a 18T and 5S lipo, I clocked it at 62 mph with a Bushnell speed gun. I've never experienced a lack of power.
