Default Toro 8s ESC?

Any one used one of these? I'm tempted but I can't find any information about them anywhere. See link below...

I did find it on skyrc.com. Sort of. There's a pic of it on their ESC page, along with other similar looking ESC's.

I'm not too worried about support. This is a bit of an experiment for me. I'm going to see how good the cheap Chinese stuff is.

If your in the US you should buy a HobbyWing Xerun 150amp for pretty much the same price through Falcon Sekido. You get a 180 warranty from them.

Yeah, but those HW ESC's only have a 3 amp BEC.

3amps is pretty standard, and should handle most servo needs. You can always get an external bec.

Why tack on an external BEC when you could get an ESC with a stronger BEC?

Because even a 6v, 5 amp BEC is not enough for 1/8th scale. I personally run a Castle 10 amp BEC at around 7.2v. Faster and stronger servos.

Thanks for the reply. 1/8 Ebuggy is a new class for me and I keep kinda half equating it to 4wd sct. 5 amp BEC's have been enough for that, even with a savox servo.

It sounds like you kinda have your mind made up and are looking for justification to try the toro. I think there is a guy that is trying to rep toro/skyrc here on the boards a little more.

Buy it, test it, and let us know. Ever now and then we get lucky with something new that pops up.

You're right, I pretty much have made my mind up to try either this esc (Toro 8s) or one similar to it, the Toro TS 150a.

I did more poking around on the Toro 8S... It is supposed to be the same thing (more or less) as the TS 150a, just lacking the bluetooth programing capabilities. And it is a new product, that's why I can't find information on it.

I could be wrong, but it sure looks like that Toro TS 150a is a knock-off of an Orion R8.

Well, I was all ready to dip my toe into the experimental pool... But then I found a used VTX8 from a reputable seller. Oh we'll, maybe I'll try a knock-off motor instead.
