Default Alternative to control 2 servos with same channel

Happy 2014 to all! With the new year a a new RC truck I gave my son for Christmas (an SCX10 Rubicon), I started with the task of upgrading this new toy (We already had a Traxxas Slash and the upgrade/fixing never ends). What I'm basically adding is a Bulldog winch (from RC4WD) but I did not ordered the wireless controller as a kit and later learned that I will need a radio with a third channel with a 3 position switch. The radio that came with the Axial is a basic 2 channel system but looking at various alternatives on the internet I will like to try the idea of using the steering channel to control the winch by using a switch that may allow me to alternate which servo (steering or winch) the steering wheel of the TX will control. The problem is I need to understand what the 3 wires are and what switch to use. Will I need a 6 pole switch or any DPDT switch? If so, this will only allow me to switch 2 of the 3 wires, is there a common wire than may be bundle together between the servo, RX and winch? I was thinking o using a Y cable (with 2 female ends and one male and buy a switch to make the connection myself but was wondering if this harness can be available already (looked at RC Planet and Tower Hobbies but have not found anything similar).

I wouldn't recommend what you are doing. Usually when you trying to control 2 items from the same channel its not something you always need to use (such as steering). If you had a 3 channel you could have throttle, steering, and then split the 3rd to do lights/winch (usually its setup on a 6 step system like you guessed already).

Check out the GT3C from hobbypartz as a cheap upgrade (~$50)

Thanks for the reply! Will take a look into this option today. I agree 100% with you that this is the best option, is just that I was already into other upgrades that this Rubicon needs (like aluminum suspension and steering links, hub carriers and other accessories that I ordered already or I'm looking at) and was looking a a quick/cheap alternative while I get the chance to have a more permanent and better solution. But will look at this system you recommend today maybe I just spend the extra $$ and just solve the issue. Question, is the 3rd channel in this radio a reversing or 3 position switch or will I have to make any modification? I'm asking because I already have a Traxxas TQi (4 channels I use in my Traxxas Slash VXL) and was thinking on buying just the receiver to control my slash as well as the SCX10 with the same controller but read that I will have to change one of the switch in the TX because is just an on/off or a 2 position switch and the winch will need a 3 position on/off/on-reverse? function.
