My question is ,is what is the little thing with 2 wires coming out of it? Do I need it and what does it do lol
That's the capacitor pack. It gets soldered onto the + and - terminals on the speedo.

The gen 2 trackstar looks exactly like a skyrc toro ts120. Has anyone tried flashing the trackstar with the toro firmware?

Default Turnigy Trackstar Gen II 120amp

I guys, back in May 2014 I order two Turnigy Trackstar 120amp GenII. Somehow when all the activity started over sea's my shipment never got to me. My wife sent them an email with in a short time I had receive and email with credit and apology with it. I took the credit and order the two ESC that I wanted to test. I received them quickly, that was great.

A week has gone by and I install one in my sedan that I race with 17.5, I already had order and received the program box. When set up the ESC it took me a couple trice, does not set up to receiver like the others. But it was done. I hook it to the box I was impress with all the settings it had. Not to difficult to master.

Here is the hang up. I had to up date to a new laptop because my old one's hard-drive craped out it had XP on it. The new is my second one that I have had to replace with windows-8. Actually windows-8.1, Has anyone tried to install the Turnigy on a 64bit system. I have install and ran the Tiken, Orion, and even Hobbywing. They all seem to work just find. The turnigy trackstar does not seem to install. It installs the program in the download folders. So you have to run it as administrator, but it does not see the box, the box see's the USB plug in.

I'm going to try again to see what happens. Anyone with help please let me know.

Hi, I have a turnigy trackstar 120 turbo esc. Everything is just fine except the brake strength must set to 100% else it just won't work or too weak. But, 100% brake strength make me a bit hard to drive as it will locked the tires. May I know how to solve it?

Thank you!

Hi Guys,

Just bought a 120a Turbo. I have set it using the program box as follows:
Operation mode *1. For/Brake
Initial Brake 3. 20%
Drag Brake *2. 5%
Brake Strength *4. 80%
Voltage Cutoff *3. 3.2V/Cell
Punch Profile 9. Level 9
Neutral DeadBand *2. 3%
Boost Timing *1. 0Deg
Turbo Slope *4. 18Deg/0.1s
Turbo Timing *1. 0deg
Boost Timing *5. 4000
Turbo Delay *3. 0.1sec
Boost Timing ACC *2. 100RPM/deg
Reverse Speed *3. 75%
Drive Frequency *1. 8KHZ
Brake Frequency *1. 1KHZ
Temperature Set *1 On

When Its on the orange light is blinking. Is this Setup correctly for Blinky class?

Cheers
Ryan

Yes with the boost and turbo set to "0" you are in blinky.

I got the trackstar gen 2 150A with the programming box. Previously I was using the hobbyking 150a esc.
I noticed that the trackstar doesn't give instant power when starting like in a drag race. Did you noticed that too ?

So are these esc's approved? Would be nice as it would help bring more into racing at a lower cost.

They are not currently ROAR approved, but the certainly should be.
it would help to make racing much more affordable for the beginner/kid/budget racer. I'm sure the cost of more expensive equipment is what is keeping kids from joining the rc community.

Or am i the only on with the issue? after getting it to calibrate when i turn on the esc the orange light stays on while the middle yellow led blinks. Is that normal too?

Set the brakes to 100 on the ESC then adjust on your transmitter. I have noticed that the brakes seem real strong on my buggy, but on my shortcourse I feel like I can't get enough. 100% on ESC and 100% on Tx. My buggy is 65% on ESC and 59% on Tx.

The orange light should not be on. Once it's calibrated the only that should be on is the middle yellow, either blinking or solid. I had an issue one time calibrating that drove me crazy, I didn't realize I had the ABS function on when I was trying to set the brake, that did activate the orange light. I woke up at like 2 in the morning when it hit me. My wife was like what's wrong what's happening. I jumped up like I just figured out the cure for world hunger. Haha.
