Gen 2 120a esc, the program card/box plugged into the esc via usb, the esc just says “esc disconnected” on the trackstar software.

Using a skylink usb connector it shows up straight away “esc connected”.

First time it showed up it came up firmware update, I updated it & gave me the option to roll back to earlier firmware.
Plugged it in the next day & the firmware rollback options were gone.

60a first version.

Anyone run this esc? In the manual it says that if in blinky mode the white LED should go out. I cannot get it to go out. Also It shows that each setting has a factory default setting. Is there a way to reset it to default? As far as I can tell this one only used one of those old programming "cards" or direct. Anyone know if this can be programmed by any programming box or software?

Also.. running this as well.

But when I get the UT Link software running and I can.. it identifies this and the programming card.. But I assume I should have downloaded firmware files to upgrade it???? I cannot find those firmware files anywhere on the net??? ANYONE???

Hi All
Getting back to R/C after 10 year layoff. Going to be running VTA class. Waiting on Turnigy Trackstar 80A Turbo to arrive to match with Fantom Works plus 25.5 motor. The question is: is a 2s 6ooomah 100c battery too much, overkill, or will be just fine? New to the lipo scene so please bear with me.

Thanks

A 6000 mah is overkill as far as runtime for a 6 minute race with a 25.5 but I along with many VTA racers use this size battery. I use it more for its weight and still need to add more to make minimum.

Just an FYI to anyone using the Trackstar 80A turbo ESC
(this one: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...-approved.html)
and using in conjunction with FlySky GT3C, for some reason in the "NOR" reversing of the TX, it wont pair to the full throttle end point, no idea why, if you "REV" the throttle channel, it will pair correctly though.

TX & RX should be binded. and set to NOR(normal). Next step to calibrate your ESC, Read Hobbyking ESC manual how to calibrate. Calibration sets the Neutral, Full Throttle, and braking of the trigger. Should always be done with changing ESC and motor.

Can't change the rotation of the motor with just the ESC and motor if it's a sensored motor.

This is a very common problem. You'll see it mostly with Futaba transmitters, but other brands as well. I think it's either software issue or a safety precaution. The ESC should be getting a somewhat neutral signal, but when you go full throttle, the pwm can either go up or down. Some ESC assume it can only go one way and won't recognize when it gets a full throttle signal opposite of what it expects. Most ESC manufacturers write their software to accept a full throttle pwm either up or down from neutral.

The only reason why an ESC might not work that way could be for safety reasons if you calibrated the radio backwards, such that full throttle on the transmitter became full reverse on the ESC. Just a guess.

I guess i should have elaborated, this is within the steps in the manual for the ESC i linked, while calibrating, they call it "binding" when the esc is recognizing what throttle position inputs should be, (after you press the "set" button and while the light is flashing, once it goes solid for the next color, you know it was calibrated to that last step.), i was following their manual exactly, but it would not calibrate full throttle with either of my FlySky GT3C rx/tx combos while the TX was set to the "NOR" function for the throttle channel. as soon as the trigger was released and it was either at neutral or forward (brake side) of neutral position, it would calibrate that step and recognize as an input was given.
reversing the throttle channel to "REV" allowed it to calibrate as it should per manual.
And yes, that is why i was calibrating the esc, because i swapped it to the GT3C setup.

dont really know the cause, but i did get it working by reversing the throttle channel, and restarting calibration, in the "NOR" position, it would let me calibrate it if i had pushed the trigger forward as if using the brakes. im wondering if maybe the rotation the ESC powers the motor is backwards for what the radio/car should be, so reversing put it back to the correct orientation as Gerry had said that the ESC thought that what was supposed to be forward was actually where brake/REV should be, so wouldnt allow it to calibrate that way.
i do not have the programming card for this esc, so i have no way to reverse the orientation of the motor through the ESC to test.
i had ran it for about half an hour to an hour afterwards and worked properly, brakes functioning as it should and no delay or anything in forward.

i had just thought this was strange as the previous RX/TX combo i was using (Spektrum DX2E) was set to "NOR" and was working correctly and allowing calibration with no issue.
This was more of a heads up if anyone else was having the same issue. i thought i had possibly ruined my ESC and that was why it wasnt calibrating.

Make sure you have your throttle trim set to zero before you try to calibrate it.

Hi guys.

been almost 6 years since i ran my off-road buggies.

Long story short, fitted an 120amp v2 TS esc from an old touring car into a TT01 I’m playing with anRacing Euro Truck Man body.

Anyways, I want to engage reverse, for all the endpoints etc sorted and the truck runs with a 17.5 in Blinky, as the esc was programmed 6 years ago for racing (no reverse) and all was well as I had to blue tooth module on hand to do so and the App on my iPhone 5-6 I think.

Tried to download the skyrc app on my phone to run the Bluetooth module and App Store says that the developer hasn’t developed a version for for the iPhone 8.

am I stuck on Blinky no reverse forever?
I have tried the Trackstar Turbo card I have as well, it just powers up and no action when the keys are pressed, only the LCD sceeen comes up but nothing else

I have a Toro style soft card and it only lights up the first top button and no action either when the toggle button is pressed.

all I want to do is to be able engage Reverse as I’ll be running for fun and not racing.

TIA
