Default ESC for stock racing, but option for mod later?

What would be the best bang for the buck ESC to run in a T4.2, going to run stock for now but may want to do mod later on. Most likely running either 17.5 or 10.5.

Speed Passion Reventon Pro is good. What is your budget? If your budget is really low I may have some other options, but for a solid ESC at a fair price, you can't go wrong with the Reventon Pro.

I don't really have a budget, but I figure I am not trying to go super hardcore. I do want an ESC that I can grow with, but I feel like I don't really need a top of the line ESC, I am a pretty recreational racer.

The Speed Passion is a good fit for you then. It comes with a LCD programmer to make changes easier, the software is great, and the power delivery is REALLY smooth. Comparable to top dollar ESCs. It has a stout BEC, and can run motors all the way up to 3.5T! It is really nice. I have had nothing but good things to say about mine.

Yes, but you have to buy the wifi module, which is about $50. Programming with the box is really, really easy though. I don't see the need to use your phone.

Might look at the hobbywing extreme stock or the stock spec v3.1

The programming card is seperate but its cheap ($27). A bit smaller and lighter than the reventon. I have both and have been extremely pleased with them thus far.

I would get the HWv3.1 stock spec. The reventon pro has some QC issues. They used to be much better when HW made their esc's. The HW 90amp v2.1 is also very good. And $71 free shipping.

For cheap and reliable, hobbywing is the way to go!

+1 for hobbywing.
If u plan to go for mod class later. The xerun 3.1 is the one to go.
It is $40 more than SP Reventon pro. But it give you more adjustable options to fine tune itself.
Very sweet.
I used to run reventon pro. It also a very good one, but the size does matter. It is perhaps the biggest onroad 1/10 esc I have ever run. U may have to work harder for the perfect layout on your chassis.
Just my little 2 cents..

Hobbywing or Speed passion are fine choices.
