MyLaps Problem
#3
I was getting inconsistent recording my last weekend out in one of my cars and it turns out that the pins were not making good contact with the RX. I took them out of the connecter and pushed it in a bit so that it made better contact. My wires are in good shape so I think I'm all good now but we will see.
Check how tight the plug is into the RX.

This is the 2 wire Hybrid, "White Edition". Tested the wires with a fluke and read good. Also removed the plug and connected the 2 wires directly into rec. and still nothing. Tried a different transponder and works fine so that rules out the receiver. Has to be something internal. Sent a message to My Laps but haven't gotten a response yet. Just wondering what the repair cost will be. Never heard of anyone having this kind of issue.

Pretty sure Mylaps does not do any repairs. They just sell you a new one. I've opened up the previous version of transponders to replace wires and such but not the newer hybrid or RC4. So I don't know how difficult it would be to do it yourself. They are epoxy filled though so it's quite a headache to get to the board itself.
You double checked that it was plugged into the RX correctly I assume? Weird as I've never seen a Mylaps personal transponder go bad. It's always been bad wires in my experience. It's bound to happen I suppose.

I tried soldering a fan in a "Y" to my transponder last night. When I plugged the whole thing in to the rx it didn't work anymore. I didn't hold the iron on for longer than 6 sec and it wasn't very hot to begin with. Are these overly sensitive to heat? I really can't afford this...
