That sounds like either one of two things.

1. it's an old log you're looking at in which case the motor used at the time didn't have a sensor.

2. You need to factory reset the ESC as it may not be recording properly.

On the 4PX there are a few settings that should be changed:

70/30 from 50/50 default PRIOR to calibrating the ESC.

Turn off ANY ABS

Turn off the BLS mode. This may require a software udpate and should be done on the ESC channel which is #2.

Calibrating the ESC to the radio should be fine after this. To verify you're getting a full brake signal to the ESC simply hit brakes and watch all the LED's climb the tree and then flash.

The latest 4PX should have the settings I'm talking about in it. BLS mode off and 70/30 are the two major ones.

When you apply full brake on the radio does the ESC do this?

BLS on 4px is servo type only, digital and analog. tried both same result.

B44, I don't have my 4PX in front of me, does it allow you to set the ESC vs steering servo types independantly, or it's all Analog or all digital?

Randy, am I understanding that correctly, we have to run the 4PX servo type setting as analog?

It's on page 46 of the manual: http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/4px-manual.pdf

BLS mode is what it was called on the 4pk. In the 4pk manual it states to use analog on all ESC's. Lutz caught this early on with the 4px, the first software didn't have the option to change it.

B44 please take a screen shot of your Hotwire Dashboard so I can see your brake settings please. I'd also like to know your brake Frequency.

Gentlemen,

I have the newest version RSX speed control, and I'm looking to replace the single capacitor with a dual capacitor bank that has flexible wires, and is shrinkwrapped, so I can tape it down to the chassis.

Is this possible or will it affect the ESC's performance? Are there specific sizes or specs I should look for? Below are some examples I found of the style I'd like to switch to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Randy will say it is important to keep the Cap close to the ESC. The closer the better and the tekin cap is of high quality for this application. I either mount it off the back side of the ESC or on top of the ESC so wires are short and it can be near the ESC. I have never had an issue mounting an ESC with the cap in one of those two configurations for a clean look.

Thanks for the reply. I've broken the wire on the stock cap on 2 different occasions, so I'd like to try something different. To your point, if I can make one of those bank setups to work I'd try to mount it right in back of the case. I think having more flexible wires will help my cause.

You can make your own "bank" of caps. I do this on my 4wd car where space is very limited (Yz4). Understand the further away the caps are "wire" wise, the more you will need. I run 3 on my Yz4 because the caps are on 3"s of wire.
