Thanks for the reply, I wanted to make sure before I bought one. But the plastic case one IS ROAR Approved, according to the list on their site. Model#300044-01

They look promising, any issues with then?

So what ESC pick for the SkyRC TORO S-Pro4 motor ?
Technical specifications of "Toro SC120A SK-300052-01" and "TS120A Aluminum case SK-300062" are identical, but Skyrc recommends "Toro SC120A SK-300052-01" for TORO S-Pro4 brushless, why ?

The TS-120 was designed for 2-pole motors. It is compatible to SOME 4-poles, but not all.

The SC-120 works with all 4-poles.
The TS-150 works with all 4-poles but is a slightly bigger ESC

guys, i thought id just jump in hereand let you know what im finding with my SkyRC SC120 esc's....

I am doing 2 RC10GT brushless conversions, one for me and one for my son. Well I ordered two SkyRC SC120A ESC's and the wifi module. Well, as it turns out, one of the SC120A ESC's is faulty, s it does not turn on, or do anything at all. DOA.

I just wired them up today, and as the DOA one surprised me, I tossed it back into the box and proceeded to wire the next one up, its OK. And functions just fine.

Next, I set up the wifi programmer with my Galaxy Note3, and sure enough, the Note3 see' the WiFi programmer and is able to connect to it. I then fire up the App ESC Link. and thats pretty much where it stops. The app is failing to see the ESC, so I try again, and then it does, but after a few moments it errors out....great, thats a no go. So I try it on my Sons IPod, same s%$t.... Doesnt work. I also tryd the other App,SkyRC Link. Same thing.... So, I guess progamming this thing via WiFi is a bust. Good thing I also ordered the PC Link. Ill give that a try next, via my laptop.

Now i guess i have to attempt to contact the seller via Flea-bay, and let them know one of the ESC's was DOA, and see if I can get a replacement ASAP, the only issue is they are out of HonKong, and i dont know how much its going to cost me to send it back to them!! They should just send me a new one, without me having to send the dead one back, IMO.... Or pay for the shipping back to them. Ill see what they say. If they dont treat me right, Ill go the PayPal route and do a chargeback, I guess...

Anyways, thats my experience. I have no doubt this working ESC will be awesome, and I understand that these things happen, its just a bit of a burn, that one is DOA, and the WiFi module and apps dont even work, with the working one. Maybe the software is just too new, and needs some tweaking.

Ginnz.

There is upgraded firmware available for the TS120, if you plug it into your PC with the SkyLink and launch the app you'll be able to install the new firmware and that may resolve your connectivity issue.

Correction. The Plastic one was approved a while back. Last year if I recall correctly. But the aluminum is not. But this is for Stock No Timing Race events.

http://www.roarracing.com/approved_non_timing_escs.php

Although the TS-120 plastic and aluminum in appearance look the same except for the case, the firmware is a bit different. The plastic use an older firmware while the newer aluminum case version use the same firmware as the TS-160. An no, I can't flash the plastic version to the newer firmware in the aluminum case.
Not sure about the newer crop of plastic SKYRC 120a, if the firmware is udpated.

Anyone using the 160a version of this? I ordered this as my gen2 Hk esc died after 10 cycles and wanted to re use the Wi-Fi dongle which works on the hk. My only concern was if the capacitors blew.. And if you could replace them internally for the 160a version.

I would think the WiFi box would work with the Toro TS160 as well
