Official Tekin RX8 GEN2 ESC Thread

To change the neutral width onboard, press the MODE once to enter program mode, then 3 more times. LED should be blinking on the NW setting. Press INCR to enter the NW setting, then keep pressing to adjust the value. The further right you go, the wider the neutral width setting. I would put it so that LEDs 2&3 are lit at the same time and try it there.

Radio Calibrate, press and hold MODE. ESC will being to chime after about 3 seconds, it will beep/blink on the center LED, find neutral and go to the far right LED. Pull and hold full throttle, wait for chime. It will then switch to the far left LED, push and hold full brake, wait for chime. You should get a confirmation chime and when you let go the ESC will go to neutral.

Edit: Late post but update the ESC of you have not yet.
Calibration is in the manual, its easy and the manual can be found on the rx8 page if you don't have it.
If you don't have hotwire, you need it. Update to the new firmware from like a month ago, its a lot smoother. Neutral width is in hotwire as well. You can probably do it with the buttons but you need the hotwire connector to update anyway so get that asap.

Can somebody from Tekin explain to me what changed with the throttle handling in the latest firmware? Both the RX8 Gen1 I updated and the Gen2 I have seem more "squishy" than the Gen1 used to, almost as if things are delayed a bit or have a ramp up time. The vehicles/motors haven't changed for the RX8 Gen1 that I saw this with.
I've been using linear throttle profiles on both my radio and the ESC's at all times (both before the firmware update and after). I'm sure I can get used to this, but with the initial change it has made me less consistent with jumping accurate distances (sometimes shorting, sometimes overshooting because I tried to correct what I thought was going to short, etc). Knowing exactly what it is doing different to be "smoother" would likely help me understand how to adjust my throttle finger behavior more quickly.

I seem to remember someone mention a way to clear the data log memory by pushing a button but couldn't find the reference in a search. How do I clear the data log before making a run?
Is there any problem with keeping the hot wire plug in the port while running (assuming I'm not running a fan of course
)?

Tnx! Between narrowing down a setup & the data log, I see the lap top being a fixture on my pit table for the next several weeks!

What does "smoothed out" mean? Different throttle curve? More steps of resolution? Some sort of maximum rate of change rate added?

It was the culmination of a lot of small changes. In the past we've given out far too much information in the name of clarity. Sorry what we're improving upon in detail will be somewhat guarded and held close to the chest. Hope everyone understands.
