Default Tekin Pro 4 Sensor Issue advice please.

Hi Guys: I bought a used SCTE with an RX8 and a pro 4 4000 kv motor. It runs great.
I noticed that the seller hadn't hooked up a sensor cable, so I bought two generic 6 pin cables from a LHS.
Whenever I plug in either sensor cable, the motor cogs/stutters badly and overheats in about 2 minutes. If I unplug the cable, things are fine again.
1. Is it possible that the Sensor PWB is bad?
2. What can I check to verify if its faulty?
3. Do Tekin sensor wires have a typical pinout or something special?
4. Is running sensored a big improvement over Non-Sensored?

Thanks!
Jerry

have you checked the sensor checker feature ? (Slowly rolling over the motor and looking at the ESC lights) With the sensor wire plugged in.
