Default use of thermalpaste on heatsinks, racer tip

Im sure this has been discussed previously but i have found computer thermal paste is a great to get the best cooling from your motor heatsink. I was running a tekin pro-4 4600 kv motor on my sct with a 15 tooth pinion, and after races i was temping at 150-160, once removing my heatsink and adding thermal paste between it and the motor i rarley get above 120 now.... just a heads up for anyone having heat issues this could be a good fix

It's not an adhesive. More like a grease. If you were to open your computer and remove the heatsink from the CPU, you would find a white/silver paste between the two. It's quite crucial in that application as even a small amount missing can mean meltdown. It's pretty effective stuff and frankly, I'm surprised I haven't heard of someone doing this yet on the motors. Good thinking, OP.

yes, its more like paste than adhesieve, i think it made a large difference with the pro-4 motor because it has ridges on teh can which only allow for small contact area between teh motor and the heatsink. should help with smoothe cans aswell. is available at frys electronics or any other computer store for just a few dollars, a tube should be able to do 4-6 motors atleast
