stopped by my track tonight, which just got it's updated decoder a couple race days ago.

the old AMBrc PT's DO work, as well as house PT's..Just like the list above shows.

Couple guys have MRT's, those worked as well. BUT it's been posted that some may have issues with counting every lap. This was not an issue, at my track.

Ok if mylaps is going to force someone to buy a new version 4 trandponder that wont work with the older system. Why not just buy mrt no need to upgrade

I am certain the reasons to upgrade are product support and program updates (if AMB/MyLaps software is being used).

Our local tracks (both carpet and dirt) use the old AMB 20 (no personals). Hopefully it keeps on running. As a club we could not afford to update even with the allowance (which probably does not apply to our old system).

Also if I have read correctly, the older AMB as well as the newer personals will work with the new system; the MRT is the only one that doesn't.

I have 2 mrt they work flawlessly and are reasonably priced. If the time comes where they wont work that maybe the time to quit.

Are they using the new rc4 transponders.

Don't know, didn't ask. He has 4 of them in the case for sale but I don't know if anyone is actually running the new 3 wire RC4's.

The rc4's did not work with our new mylaps decoder until I upgraded the firmware on Sunday. No one was running Mrt's. I'll post the results of Mrt use on Wednesday.

FYI guys Mylaps has a sale going on right now. Trade in your old AMB and $35 and you get a new mylaps. It doesnt matter if it even works or not. Doesn't even need wires. Ask your LHS to make sure they are taking part in this deal!

FYI, the bulk of people in these threads are well aware, also considering the limitations of the 'new' transponder, being it only works on the new decoder, I'd be keeping my old one regardless, or repairing it if it were broken, as it has the chance to work more places.

MyLaps is about to cause a RC rift, where their new transponders won't work anywhere but places that have new decoders, and any club that misses out on a deal may have to pay $4000 for a forced upgrade no one asked for.

It will come down to tracks that want to keep using MRT or tracks that want to use the RC4. When the RC4 is the only transponder sold by mylaps it will be the dominant product on the market. I updated because I would rather pay the $350 now then $3000 later. In the end tracks and racers get hosed but I don't see much of a choice.

Yeah, while trying to trade in some dead rechargeable transponders, first I was told you could trade in any transponders, then when I asked for details, they said transponders 'must' be working.

Kind of sucks in one way, I have a bag of dead transponders with numbers that will 'never' be recycled because they won't trade in dead transponders.

My local track sent back three dead transponders with numbers to Mylaps. One which had wires cut off at the case. One with the case cracked open. And one all glued up from being opened and soldered. All were accepted.
