wrxnfx - What brushless esc and motor are you running with the spektrum?

I just ordered a U-Force 75, Kontronik Twist and 2packs of lipos. I'm wondering if the U-Force will work with the 3pk spektrum? It was also mentioned earlier on this thread, don't remember who, but seemed like no one has tried this yet?

Please let me know if the U-Force works as I got the same BL system and would like to get the Spektrum only if it works.

Moosi-racing - If you were referring to me, not yet. The brushless system and the spektrum-3pk are on their way from two separate locations. Just a matter of time.

Danjoy25 - I know how you feel. As soon as I get my hands on the combo I will post the results here. Mind you the U-Force will have version 3 installed, so the results with other versions may differ.

I hope this works on any of the versions and will report!

On another note - regarding the T3PK covers, (since they're a little thicker) has anyone thought of removing/modifying the top cover of the spektrum itself to allow room for a better overall fit on the radio?

well, it looks like my 3PK system is an anonamly. After trying many spectrum modules out, and different batteries, any spectrum module that you put in my transmitter fluctuates voltages. Any other 3PK system that we tested, did not. Oh well, short of sending my 3PK into futaba and saying fix it (which I doubt they will using an aftermarket module system) I'll just live with it. It doesn't seem to have an impact on functionality of the system as I give it an A+++ for performance. The latency is super quick, and no glitching at all. I love not having crystals and no more waiting for practice or tuning in the pits. Highly recommended. I would be curious if anyone else finds they have fluctuating voltages like me. The tech @ Horizon says every system is tested before it's shipped....

Happy racing my spectrum friends.

My 3PK (Gold version) cover modification for the Spektrum module, as described earlier.

3PK version availability ??????????

Which hobby shop has them instock that ships overseas (Sydney, Australia)???

To help quell any of the earlier negativity associated with the Spektrum, allow me to add my $0.02 and say that it's quite simply the way to go. If nothing else, being able to turn your radio on in the pits is worth it. I noticed no delay or other change from the standard radio system, except that it felt more awesome since I knew pretty much nothing could screw it up. :-D

The initial problems were (and possibly are, still) frustrating, but without question, it's the future, and worth the patience.

Decided to buy another transceiver to put into another car yesterday. That did not go well at all. The transceiver did not work and I have to send it back to Horizon for repair/replacement. My original system works fine in my car but this second transceiver (which is suppose to be from the new batch) doesn't power up to bind with the transmitter module. I bypassed the switch and linked the battery directly into the transceiver and the light would just briefly flash then go dark. So, for those buying another transceiver(s): beware that you may get one that may not work properly.
The strangest thing happened yesterday with the second transceiver that I was about to send back to Horizon. I decided to give it one more try before mailing it in. I hooked it back up in the car, went back through the binding steps, double-checked that my transmitter was on PPM, and it decided work properly and bound itself to the transmitter module. I tested it out again and it works fine so for the time being, it escapes being mailed in to Horizon for evaluation.:D

You scared it

Is there any place that's selling the transceivers seperately? I could use another one for my fleet of cars.

I know of a couple here in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. You can contact Mike at www.mikeshobbyshop.com. He has five (5) transceivers in stock and ships worldwide. I think his price on them is $69.99. The other place is Wild Bill's Hobby Shop in Irving, TX. Len and his son Scott are the people there to talk to. Their contact number is 972-438-9224 and tell them Juan sent you.;)

I don't know why it started working; just glad that it did to save me the headache of sending it in. I will keep a close watch on the second transceiver, though. It may act up again.

Thanks, I'll email Mike.

I got mine yesterday and installed it. Binds nicely. You need to re-program your ESC and re-do all your transmitter functions (EPA, etc..) I love not having a huge antenna tube in the car! Looks better IMO. Only thing that I feel is a little strange, is that the voltage display on the 3PK now goes a little haywire.

John

Does that mean that I will loose all my settings that I have right now, once I install Spektrum? Anyone have any experience with Keyence V Zero Extreme ESC with Spektrum? Thnx for any info.

No, you will not loose any models that you have programmed into your radio. You might have to tweak the settings though as the system has different throws then the Futaba crystal module. Make sure you change from PCM or HRS to PPM for the spectrum to function properly.
