FCC regulations state that a device must NOT emit harmful interference and also must accept all interference given to it. If the device has FCC certification (which the Spektrum does) then it has been tested and approved by the FCC. Does this mean it is foolproof, of course not. But under their testing, which is fairly stringent from my research, the device when operating should not interfere with any other signal not on its band. Strange harmonics etc may play a part, but it is incredibly unlikely that a Spektrum will interfere with a non Spektrum radio. There was a guy at our track the other day on AM 29Mhz and his car was going nuts. He thought somebody was on his channel, nobody was that we could find. Blame my Spektrum?

Similarly the Spektrum receivers are required to be tested by the FCC that they cannot receive harmful interference. Therefore mobile phones, cordless phones, PDAs etc should not interfere with them in any way as the Spektrum systems have a "collision detection" system built into the software to prevent harmful interference from glitching them.

Anybody who has experienced glitching before knows that there can be many causes of it, and not all related to radio interference. My feeling is that a lot of the Spektrum "glitching" is related to compatability with certain other electronics and possibly even voltage issues.

I think you will find that a lot of this "certification" is achieved thru the use of propritary components, but I may be wrong...

It also doesnt rule out interference from a mobile phone if the circuitry is hit by a signal boost like that when a mobile connects (just like your TV or HiFi when the phone is close to it)..

Spektrum/2.4GHz isnt a cure all, but its as close as we have at present

I was wondering how do u set the ABS with the Spectrum in my 3PK??

You would do it the same as with out the spektrum.

Can someone shed some light on the dimension of the Spektrum receiver? I can't find that anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

Yep you are totally right in both cases. I race indoors inside a concrete walled warehouse with steel doors, a wifi network, metal rails everywhere, a steel roof and about 40-50 mobile phones nearby. The 4 Spektrum systems we had going had 0 problems or glitching. I dont want peeps to jump to conclusions is all :)

Similarly I run my work laptop on a wifi network shared by hundreds of employees and my mobile phone sits next to it all day. I have dropouts but they are rare.

Had to install one of these caps to stop the glitching and weird throttle response, but it works now and I'm content :sneaky: I just wish I had more slots on the reciever... where am I gonna put a fan :(
My TX pack that I made came out awesome though  :D -JB

3PK HRS

Guys,
I just bought a Futaba 3pk HRS Tx/Rx system. The manual states that I have to run digital servos. Question about running digital servos? Before I ditch my analogs and drop another $200.00 dollars on digital servos, do I really need them to run this system. If so, can I use either analog or digital if I run the spektrum futaba TX/RX system instead of the HRS receiver with the 3PK? If it matters this will be used in an 1/8 scale buggy and a 1/10 scale nitro touring car.

Thanks

If your using HRS, you MUST use a digital servo or it will not work. Servocity.com have some inexpensive digitals from futaba 3151 for around $20-30

3PK HRS

I understand and thanks for the help. So what about using the Spektrum system. Can I use my analogs as long as I not using the HRS Rx and change the setting on the radio to PCM?

Galifrey 06-05-2005 11:23 PM

Can run non digitals on Spektrum I believe, but the radio must be set in PPM mode..

3pk Sektrum

That's what I was thinking, just wanted to get more advise. Thanks.

Yes, Spektrum runs in PPM mode which can handle analog or digital servos, unlike HRS which only supports digital servos.

Just some clarification......SPEKTRUM replaces your trnsmitter module & receiver >>>HRS / PCM. So if your using Spektrum, your not using HRS or PCM and you should have your 3PK on PPM mode for Spektrum to "bind". You can use either analog or digital servos.
