Try dropping the intial drive down (setting 4) lower. Give 1 (3%) a try.
Also try dropping the boost ramp, stock setting is equivalent to 500rpm/° OR 30,000 rpm boost range on the HW (assuming same total boost amount).
Failing all that... try the 4.7 software, as that gives boost and turbo control, and has some lower levels of initial drive too (which I've found even just 1% can make a big difference in how smooth the car is). I get the feeling 5.4 is aimed more at Blinky stock than boosted....

As a recent purchaser of a Flow Works ESC, I am generally very happy with it, with one exception. Programming.
I need to get it into 'Boost 0' mode for blinky spec racing but have not been able to. All I get is a solid blue light at neutral. According to instruction, resetting to factory default should enable boost 0, but I'm thinking I am doing it wrong. Manual says to hold set button whilst switching ESC on, but it then goes to initial setup for throttle calibration. Thinking maybe I need to do throttle calibration as well?
Motor used is Tekin Redline Spec 2.

Yep, definitely had TX on, throttle at neutral and trims centred. Is there an easy step by step guide to programming? The brief description on the included manual isn't great. I'm sure it makes perfect sense to someone who is familiar with the process but I couldn't make it happen. ie wasn't sure what mode I was in etc.

1. Is the motor turning? set your neutral to stop this.
2. Are the breaks activating? set your neutral so the breaks disengage.
3. What is your Torque Timing (Mode.3) set to? Needs to be 0.
4. What is your Boost Timing (Mode.4) set to? Needs to be 0.
ESC should be blinking after all this has been completed. If not, apply a firmware update and try again, maybe visit the shop you bought the ESC from and get them to assist, some one at your track might also be able to help you out.

Firmware 4.7 defaults to boost and turbo values other than 0
As mentioned above you need to set mode 5,6and 8 to 0 to get blinky mode
Mode 5 = blue led blinking
Mode 6 = red/blu blinking
Mode 8 = red/ble/yel blinking

Thanks for your suggestions, I will re-check my settings and try again.
I attempted to set modes 3 and 4 to zero, but a large part of the problem was making sense of the programming, not being sure how to get into programming mode, or having a clear indication what mode I was in.

ok.. so if I was to reinstall the original firmware (1.7) then reset to default, would that set boost zero?
