because they are cheap, but you get what you pay for.....
I see them cause brownout issues all the time in electric cars, they are fine in nitro where you run a recv pack

Basically Spektrum is just a no no to begin with. Aircraft, vehicles, boats, and etc. Airtronics and Futaba is the way to go. Until Horizon makes a new line of receivers. I have seen some cases where people have to run 2-4 caps on a Spektrum RX to get no brown outs.

You get an awesome preforming servo at a great price with the Savox. They are super fast, lots of torque, and are also very durable. They also have an outstanding customer service. Turn around time is like a week. They are only "power hungry" because they need it to make such good specs. It is not a problem with a high quality radio and receiver.

I run them
In all my cars. I run caps in the two cell cars but prob dont need to on airtronics. Just in case.

I blew one up after racing tcmod with no servo saver but repaced gears snd still rolling. Was looking at some new airtronics servos, Srg-bls ect but hard to see why id want to spend almost three times as much. Honestly if you dont want to spend to be in the ultra high end, there really isnt anything better than these.

Long story short. Competitive with these servos and quite happy. Drawbacks are very Easy and cheap to remedy.

Sorry for the dumb question but what is a "Brownout"?

The servos can draw a lot
Of current and shut down the receiver. Mostly happens if the bec current isnt very strong on esc.
Never had a spectrum but i dont it would happen with nitro cars.
Running a capacitor on the rx just keeps its voltage stable.

If caps aren't doing it, then you need an external bec. Added one to my castle mmp and all my issues went away.

I run a savox 1258tg with my stock associated B4.1's (RTR version) XP TRS401ss reciever and don't notice any kind of issues so far.
but I've not run it a whole lot yet.

but I notice the esc has two caps on the power wires. is this what they're for?

I used a Spektrum rx cap with my savox 1258tg and resolved the brown-out issue.

I run savox servos with my spektrum stuff with absolutly no problems. With that being said all my recievers are dsm2. So I have no say on the cheap ones spektrum makes.

Flysky and Traxxas Radios here with my Savox servos. No Brownouts (almost exclusively Hobbywing ESC's!)

Well made, lower price then most, and a great warranty. I have no complaints, and I've got a lot of Savox servos.

those are power stabilizer caps for the esc. without them it would cut out and not work properly under high loads.

you put a similar car, like the spectrum glitch buster, or really. any similar rated bulk capaicitor on a servo tail, and plug it into the rx like it was a battery.
will keep the voltage to the rx stable, even if the esc is under heavy load from a hot motor.
never had to run a bec in any of my cars except my old nitro tc3 with lipo in it. but, if i had airtronics then and high voltage servos, you can run lipos natively.

Running 1258TG servos in my e-buggies and very happy so far. I use a 10A CC Bec in all my cars anyway so it's not a problem.

I don't think that's enough torque for an 8th scale.
250 oz. in. is my minimum.
